Kalimot ko sa Cue Sports...2 out of 3 sakto. Besides politics in sports, the attitude of some of our athletes need to be changed. Having been with the national team (secret hehehe) one time, nakita nako nga kung maka sulod na gali sa National team morag abot na sa pinakataas. Kinahanglan ang "hunger for excellence" nga bantayan up to World Standards. The harsh reality is that the very nature of competitive sports is ELITIST. Tan-awa ang ubang countries nga gamay ra ipadala sa competition pero mas daghan pa medal sa ato. But we are an 'equal oppurtunity' sporting country which is good. Kung National team na ka maski unsa nga recognized sports you should get support. Pero maayo unta nga kanang mga sports nga naa tay dako nga chance mo-excel, tagaan ug mas dako nga support dili lang ang elite level , importante ang grassroots level or developing athletes.
    Di ba 'bay?

martial sports strikes again for the philippines!!!!

Boxing -2 golds ( incredible wins)
Taekwondo -2 Silvers and 4 Bronzes
Karatedo -1 Silver and 1 Bronze ( best showing for Team Philippines, the best that we had b4 are 2 bronzes in
    Hiroshima
Wushu- Catalan fighting for Gold in Sanshou

hahaha... these are the sports where we can be competitive... Combat sports athlete should be given more exposure abroad since thay are bringing pride to the Philippines. After all, we filipinos are fighters!!!

I agree aquafire. but we should understand that the development of training of our athletes are clearly defined in our sports charter. Elit sports ( national team members) are the responsibility of the National Sports Associations ( NSAs) which falls under the umbrella of the Phil Olympic Commitee. POC and the NSAs are non government organizations (private) which relies on sponsorship from donor companies and of course the government. Grassroots development is the domain of the Phil Sports Commission ( like the now defunct batang pinoy program).what we should formulate now is a workable blue print ( action plans ) for the integration of the diferent sports programs: POC festival, Sports Institute, Sports Identification, etc...

    @ Freeflyer: OT
Clearly you have a very good idea of how the sports machinery should go. The current structure of the Phil sports is for the most part quite good and ideal. Pero ingon pa sa akong amigo..."en peper 'bay, oki." I admit that these days it has improved a lot... but when I was in the team and was based in Cebu someboby somehow claimed my allowances for six months! hehehe.. Alll the while I believed the officials that since I was in team B i didn't have any allowance yet.hehehe.
Kinahanglan always optimistic ta pero with the feet on the ground. I believe we have very talented high potential athletes, not only in Martial Sports but all other sports as well. Lisod man sad reklamo lang ta ng reklamo...somehow in our own capacity tabang lang ta sa sports. LAYU-a na ani sa topic uy.!

Yes I agree that we are really fighters.....but did you notice that the sports that we excel in are the ones that don't really require too much logistics? Usually sports nga ga -depend highly sa atleta. Ma-o nang bilib ko sa atong atleta. Kulang lang gyud supporta atong sports. We are a democratic society so we have to be fair to all(if possible) sports. Na- spread out kaayo atong resources. Nipis na kaayo.

i believe that our athletes could do better than that.. they could have won more gold than 3. lets hope Doha games will be an eyeopener for all filipino sports enthusiasts that we're no longer an elite in asia, as to what we are before.
