half kilo shrimp
1 onion diced
2 cloves garlic minced
3 red tomatoes quartered
1 eggplant cut into desired size
1 radish cut into desired size
1 bunch kangkong washed and trimmed
2 pcs sili spada, 1 chilli slized in half lengthwise the other one left intact
1200 ml water
1 tablespoon fish sauce
salt
pepper
200 grams tamarind fruit pealed and seeded (may be more or less depending on how sour the tamarinds are. fresh tamarinds are never consistent). or 500 grams iba chopped again it may be more or less depending on the fruit itself.
or just buy a pack of sinigang mix to end the guessing and save you all that trouble.
in a pot add the water,onion,garlic,tomato, (tamarind pulp or iba) and bring to boil. let it simmer for 10 minutes. then add the eggplant and radish. cook for another 5 minutes. if you choose to use a pack of sinigang mix then add the mix. lastly add the shrimp and kangkong let it bring to full boil for 3 minutes season to taste. serve.
this recipe is good for 4-5 people. you may add any vegtables that you may like. gabi, sitaw etc. just remember that thougher ingredients take longer time to cook. so adjust nalang.
