Business opportunities can either be categorized as online or offline. Let me proceed and elaborate each one.

Offline businesses are those which do businesses in the physical world. If you sell tomatoes, real estate properties, insurance plans or anything that involves a physical product, then it belongs to this biz-opp.

On the other hand, online biz-opps are those which involve businesses in the virtual marketplace or cyberworld. These businesses include but are not limited to online advertising (look at those banner ads and embedded keywords you see in this website itself), selling online coupons, website flipping and others. You won't see any of these stuffs in the physical world. And yet people make money from it. We love to make money from it.

As how I see it, the admins (or most of the istoryans) are concerned about having low-quality posts if ever this "biz-opp" thread shall be pushed through. But let me ask: Isn't it that moderators are here so that such activities can be prevented from happening? If a moderator in another subforum (say, Career Center subforum or Campus Talk subforum) happens to see a biz-opp thread being made in his subforum, he should close it immediately. Now you ask: There are so many out-of-topic threads popping up like mushrooms. How can we moderate all of them? Solution: Hire more moderators. With the 98,378 members (as of this writing) istorya has, I think it will be easy to pull out moderators given such population. All that the admins have to do is ask them out!

I think it is the responsibility of those who are joining the biz-opp to check the credibility of the business. If it's an online business, then read the TOS first. Check some reviews. Always ask for second opinion.

For offline businesses, check it with SEC or some other authorities. They have online portals where you can do this.

We are the ones who will be blamed for the misfortunes brought upon us if the business we joined in happens to be a scam or some sort of that. We are the ones who made the decision. They are only there to entice us (or should I say, trick us) into joining them. But at the end of the day, it is us who made the final decision. Not them!
