what exactly do you mean by 'both houses to pass the impeachment'?

it is not true there was 'enough' non-ally ni gloria in the lower house. not even 1/3.
and please don't insist that the lower house vote in impeachment based on evidence.
In 2005 The impeachment was trapped in the signatory phase, where the House Committee of Justice deemed it insufficient in substance. Parties NPC and Liberal, who made up a larger part of the Genuine Opposition in 2007, held ENOUGH signatures--not including Nacionalista and other GO associated, but it did not reach the intended 79 nods. Once the House Committee of justice deems that the complaint has substance, is sufficient in form, sufficient in grounds, and probable cause in the complaint--they will examine the complaint in different angles, this encompasses some of the evidence. And both houses are needed. After the house of committee on justice sees that it meets impeachment criteria, it needs 1/3 from the House of Reps. for it to become "articles of impeachment", and 2/3 of Senate for the impeachment to succeed. In 2007, however, administration controlled the lower house, while opposition and non affiliated held the upper house. But if we're talking 2004-2005 There was enough swing votes to propel it either way. To deduce that the administration controlled either houses in 2005 is not only being misinformed, but also loaded in bias.

Napoleon? Hitler? how can you call that Karma? people die, that's not a matter of karma. Hitler killed himself, that's hardly justification for what he did. Napoleon died in a warm bed, nuff said.

Karma or not, the issue is that barring her from flight is unconstitutional. Sentiments should not be a reason to curtail the constitution, the ultimate rule of the land. Otherwise, we might as well be an state in anarchy.

A lot has been said about Gloria leaving and a lot of reasons have been stated for her to stay. And yet no one has spoken up about the fact that ...

There is something very wrong in our country right now.

There is something wrong when no one would stand up for GMA's rights and liberties simply because they view her in a negative light. When people are afraid to speak up because they are threatened by retaliation from the Palace. When everyone is more concerned about her possible guilt and her imminent escape than the fact that her rights have been violated.

People seem to forget that when her rights are violated, our rights are violated. Her rights are also our rights. In a blind effort to simply lay the blame and point fingers, people are willing to sacrifice basic human rights to obtain an indictment.

Let us be wary of doing things the easy way and doing away with our liberties in order to achieve a short-sighed goal. I leave you with this ...

First they came for the communists,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

    Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Very nice use of Niemoller. Sakto jud kaayo na bai. There are too many people too caught up with wanting to put GMA behind bars, that they fail to see the bigger picture. If her constitutionally-promised unalienable rights can easily be curtailed by the administration, what's stopping them from doing the same to any one of us?
