I just had fun debating Vern earlier, so I'll keep the momentum. IMHO, blog is not the same as journalism. Blog is a shortened version of web log. weB LOG -> blog. Logs are basically dated entries of data. Diaries can be called logs because they are usually written with a date for each entry. The data is how the person is fealing or what is happening in his or her life. In a ship log it may be other kinds of data, like the time and name of each passenger as he embarks or disembarks. The term for computers is to "log in" because Linux systems would record your entrance into the system in a similar way to a ship log. (i think). It doesn't have to be an online diary. As long as it is journalism ... it can be called a blog. Huge sites like slashdot.org are considered blogs
Journals and logs and diaries are all overlapping concepts. Journal-ism would seem to therefore also overlap. However if you look up the modern definition of journalism, IMHO, there is not much direct connection to logs.

				say whaOT = off topic?
People want to know what a Blog is! I explain not only what it is, but what it is not.
Maybe a person "blogs" and doesn't even know it. You don't have to use one of the established "blog" websites or "blog" software to actually be "blogging".
Excuse me for being informative.
