The first time I watched the fight, I gave it to Marquez not because my bet was on him but on what I saw to that fight, but after reviewing it, I agree with the judges decision..

In a close fight like that, the challenger should display aggressiveness to convince the judges especially to a well known skilled opponent, yet all Marquez did was wait for Pacquiao to engage before he delivers his blows.

    Agree with this guy's opinion:
I've been in the boxing business for many years. Boxing is judged based on ring generalship. 1. aggressor 2. percentage of punches land. 3. power punches landed 4. the champ must beating to take his belt. not just running a lasting to hopefully get a decision. I'm Mexican and Marquez DID NOT FIGHT like a tradition Mexican. Pacman won clearly.

People are disappointed cause we were expecting too much. We're expecting that it will be a brawl or a slugfist but it came out to be a little bit boring..

Pacquiao should pay a visit to Nacho Beristain, dili lang to train for a fight but to improve his technique, Nacho knows his style very well.

I think there was nothing wrong with the way Pacquiao fought Marquez. Noted nga maayo mga counter-puncher si Marquez and na experience na ni pacman sa ilang previous fights. Wala kaayu ni attack si pacman tungod ana nga reason. Iya gi huwat or gi lure si Marquez to throw the first punch. On the other hand, Marquez' camp knows that if sila ang mag cge ug sulod, piti sad sila like the previous fights nga na tikangkang ilang fighter. Thus the many hata2x moves all throughout the fight by both fighters. Fit ang ila styles for each other. Bisan pa pila pa ka rematches ang buhaton ni Bob Arum, the same result will come out. It will always be a close fight to call.

I agree with Kevin Iole in his artice in Yahoo and his comparison of the present superstars, Pacman, Marquez and Mayweather with Smokin' Joe Frazier, Ali and Foreman.

“Joe Frazier would, God rest his soul, be neck and neck with Ali and give him some tough, tough fights, but if you put him in with George Foreman, he didn’t stand a chance,” Arum said. “Foreman KO’d him twice. But with Foreman and Ali, Ali ended up knocking him out. Styles make fights, and a lot of you writers don’t understand that.

“The trainers do. The matchmakers do. But just because A beats B and B beats C, it doesn’t mean necessarily that A will beat C.” -Kevin Iole

Yes, both Gayweather and Marquez are both superb counter-punchers but Gayweather isn't Marquez and vice-versa. Marquez knows pacman better having fought him for 2 times prior to the recent fight. Gayweather hasn't. Marquez' camp has studied pacman's moves on a first hand experience with the champ while gayweather has only seen how pacman fights sitting his black ass on the couch. With that said, i believe that the recent fight doesn't give an assurance that Gayweather would dominate our Pacman.

    Just my two cents.

I agree Pac has the tools to beat Floyd. But Marquez already provided a blue print on how to beat Pac and Floyd is far better than Marquez.
Zab is known for his stamina problems though, that's why it is considered a dark horse. Pacquiao maintains volume throughout any fight, stamina is not a problem for him. Don't get me wrong, I give Mayweather the edge, but if I were in Mayweather's corner, I'd address that issue. The fact is, Mayweather is relatively more uncomfortable with opponents who have speed. Pacquiao will be Mayweather's ultimate test of boxing IQ. I understand a lot of people want to see Mayweather get knocked out, or at least lose mainly because it is seemingly impossible. Lots of respect for him IN THE RING, but not so much outside of it.

I guess you should give credit the guy some points in improvements
otherwise it would have been different and I'm sure you saw manny's expression afterwards and during the interview in the ring...lahi ra kaayo sa iyahang nawng compared to his other spectacular fights
I'd give him credit if he was the aggressor in the fight and remained standing by the 12th round--win or lose, that's just ballsy knowing that's Manny in front of you. Put into account that Manny wasn't impressive either, I just can't justify credit on Marquez. And on a side note, it was kind of embarrassing for him to claiming he got robbed, as goes Nacho (him telling JMM late in the rounds that he was winning might have been a factor). Very unclassy.

My only concern is Pacquiao is risking his body and health.... FOR A BUNCH OF FREE LOADERS.....
Pacquiao is gettting old... CRAMPS happening more often....

He can't box until he dies...

Anyways, I just wanna share this:

    From PhilBoxing.com:

Stop the emotional comments and analyze the fight and its result based on facts. Everyone was expecting a blowout and a beatdown Hatton-style so anything short of that will be a big disappointment. This was what happened. Pacquiao was a victim of his own success that's why everyone, including Manny himself, was disappointed. This did not mean that Marquez won because he did not.

Anyone who's saying Marquez CLEARLY won the fight or that he was ROBBED of a victory is either delusional or being emotional that Manny did not beat him down badly.

Neither man was able to hurt the other significantly. Most rounds were very tight and could have gone either way SO those who are saying it's a clear win for Marquez OR the Marquez dominated the fight are just PLAIN STUPID. Marquez dominated the fight? Come on people, he did not even hurt Manny.

Facts are facts. Here are the proofs that Manny won the fight.

    1. NUMBER OF PUNCHES LANDED: Manny threw more and landed more punches. Since no one landed a big shot enough to hurt the other, this became an amateur-kind-of-fight where it needed to be scored on the number of punches connected.

    2. AGGRESSION: Manny was the aggressor all night. Look at the fight again. Manny was chasing Marquez all night as Marquez was backpedalling throughout the fight. If Manny did not attack there would have been no fight.

    3. RING GENERALSHIP: Manny controlled the tempo. The fight was dictated by Manny. He was moving and using his footwork while Marquez was waiting. Those who are saying that marquez gave Manny a boxing clinic are just plain dumb. What clinic? Manny dictated the fight. He made it exciting when he wanted to. He pressed the actions all night. He countered Marquez when he needed to. Marquez was so hesitant to even come forward.

    4. CHAMPION vs CHALLENGER: The challenger needs to take the belt. It should not be handed out. Marquez did not do enough to take the belt. If this alone was the basis of scoring a tight round, it should have been 10:2 rounds in favor of Pacquiao.

    5. CHAMPIONSHIP ROUNDS: Marquez did not do jack in the later rounds. Both did not land anything of significant in the championship rounds but at least Manny was pressing the action and was trying to have something happen. What did Marquez do ? - NOTHING. If Manny did what Marquez did in those rounds, they would have done dancing with the stars.

    6. THE FACE: Look at their faces and tell me that "Marquez dominated the fight". Bullcrap! Marquez had far worse damage in his face.

    7. HBO CREW and the CROWD: They were on the ball. Ledderman had it for Manny by 4 points. This is not to say they were 100% accurate. This simply means that Marquez did not dominate the fight and was not robbed of a victory. The crowd who were booing were mostly Mexicans. What do you expect? This was the closest a Mexican came close to winning in a long time against Manny.

too much expectations para kay Manny out of this fight, that's probably why it didn't appear like a win for him. A lot of the speculations, coming from outside either fanbases, said Marquez wouldn't get to 12. Manny wasn't impressive, but it was his win.

I agree with this bro. Transitive equation among boxers are never true. One boxer's punching-bag could be another boxer's kryptonite. We will never know who's better unless you put them in the same ring.

The more I read into the fight, this is what I notice: Clean effective punching vs. effective aggression or the lack of, is highly subjective in scoring a close match.--by MEXIFAN
