MGM GRAND, LAS VEGAS -- Filipino superstar and pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao retained his WBO title via majority decision over Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez here tonight as the epic trilogy ended up in an undecisive fashion as many of the rounds were close enough to be scored at either fighter. The scores were Robert Hoyle, 114-114; Dave Moretti, 115-113 and Glenn Trowbridge, 116-112 for Pacquiao.


Reaction of the capacity crowd, about half of them Mexicans, was generally of displeasure about the result who shouted a resounding boo when Pacquiao was about to be interviewed by HBO's Max Kellerman.

Pacquiao was escorted heavily going to the exit as the Mexicans fans would let go with their catcalls.

As with the first two fights, journalists at ringside were divided with their scores with many had Marquez winning the bout. Philboxing had it 115-113 for Pacquiao.

Pacquiao has thrown 578 punches connecting 176 while Marquez had it 436 connecting 138. Pacquiao threw 304 jabs connecting 59 to Marquez's 182 with 38 connects. Pacquiao threw 274 power punches connecting 117 while Marquez threw 254 with 100 connecting.

Let's all face it..

We all want to see the Fight of the Century right?? "Pacquiao vs. Mayweather"..

and if Pacquiao would have lose this fight.. then there would be slimmer chance he can eventually end a match with Mayweather...

There are no clarifications on this fight... this is one of those fights just to make money out of the boxers...

It clearly shows in this fight nga murag wala kaau naninguha si Pacquiao, infact one boxing commentator even remark that "strangely, Pacquiao is very very relax" , he said he hadn't see Pacquiao that way ever, even in all of his fights....

I don't think Marquez was robbed. It may have looked like Marquez was winning but Pacquiao landed way more punches. If you're the challenger (Marquez) then you should fight like a challenger. He didn't show that tonight.

10 points must system po ang boxing.... hindi po dahil sa mas malinaw ang rounds na naipanalo ni marquez ay sya na ang panalo.... early rounds po... 1 to 4th round po ay close... pero maaari po ito ibigay ng mga judge kay pacquiao kasi sya ang champion... Marquez as a challenger should clearly win every round to impress the judge.. dahil kung close round at difficult to score round.. mas inclined ibigay ng mga judges ang round sa champion... ganun po ang boxing scoring systems...

Most of the rounds are close rounds.
