kung internet cafe, usually u dont need domain controllers etc.. the basics u need are DHCP server, router, and firewall.

mahal ra kaayo ang win2k3 server..

other alternatives are smoothwall, winroute, and some hardware based routers firewalls(linksys, belkin, buffalo, c-net) using GPL firmware like dd-wrt and others

Ang FEAR Combat nga compele intaller officaial maoy naay bayad ug paliton gyud, but dunay free version ana ron pwede ra ma download sa net + the right patch ok na maka play na online free. Brad have you tried also mga new sikat na games karon namely, runonline, supreme dynasty, silkroad mas light ra ni na games kay sa fear diba gihapon lag?

Yup pre.. that is very true kung fast ethernet and gigabit ethernet installed in one server and they are connected in the same switch.. But in my case, 100mbps wala nako gi connect sa switch.. 100 mbps is used for the ADSL modem interfacing and Gigabit nga lan connected sa ako private na network(sa network switch)... ako lang gi isolate ang public into private network... For me, it is reasonable anyway, internet connection is done by DNS from my server... If certain station browses an outside subnets (w/c is not member/part of its local) network.. Thus, the DNS will automatically forward station requests to the ISP.... And, it is the server that translates workstation IP addresses into One public IP address... Naka-NAT pud na siya...my server also act as a WAN-router. Pwede gani two ka ISP connected sa ako server, kung if the client wants to balance the load or if they want nga naay backup kung ma down usa ka ISP, ang nindot is dili maka experience ang client ug down if one ISP goes fail... So, don't need a physical router anymore....

Basin pwede ra na sa server makadagan ang games imong gi mention kay company heroes, nba2007, generals zero hour, house of the dead 3, Narnia, san andres GTA, doom 3, quake 3, call of duty 2, need for speed 3, fantastic 4, Prince of Persia - The Sands of TIme, Return of the King (lord of the rings), Ice Age 2, Delta Force 2, BlackHawk Down, Chessmaster 10th Edition, Age of Empire 3, Act of War, warcraft plus not mentioning old games kay dili nako e-delete sa server.. besides dako pa ko'g bakante bsan taga games naay zip backup. Naa ko'y script gihimo para mo scan ug 4 months old nga file then iya deleton..

It was started man gud way back 1999 naa koy client sa cafe before nga kompanya. Peer-to-peer networking pa ko b4. Then, ila gusto is naa silay protected nga folder bsan asa sila mo logon sa workstation... file sharing is not a problem pero efficiency and easy for them akong gipangita nga solution since they were working bigger files kay naay movies sometimes.. So magkamang jud network oi kung mag retrieve sila sa laing workstation then kopyahon sa PC na ila sudlan then windows 98 pa jud, or maghuwat pa sila kung mabakantehan ang ilang pc nga giworkan.. pastilan pwerting dugaya ug dugay ang kita.. That's why i research maayo nga system.. It started pa ug NT Server year 1999 pa. So, it resolved my problem. Then, automation program comes into picture na dayon... Image restoration from ghost.. if maguba system insert lang diskette then it restores the image (batch file scripting). Then, once it restored automatic siya mo disjoined sa domain then after restart joined ug balik sa domain.. then iyang restore ang original client profile sa client. Then, final mo logon ang system ug client nga account automatically... ang buhaton sa attendant restart niya ang pc ug 3 times para mo install ug deep freeze.. then, final padaganon dayon ang cafe station which is also taken from the server.. so Walay cafe station nakainstall sa ako workstation sa server nya pick-apon...

Pre as you've said a while ago you have a 48ports 100mbps and 2gigabit on your switch now ask lng ko pre, Ang gigabit onboard lan nimo asa nimo gi connect? Does this mean you are connecting the onboard gigabit lan card of your client PC to the 48 ports 100mbps switch in which ang onboard gigabit mo act lng 100mbps bec 100mps ra man ang switch. I believe a true gigabit switch is a one having gigabit ports for the client PC's and not only a 2 gigabit port which is entended for a feature of adding a high speed virtual private network, which lisud pud kaayong paliton ni locally.

    Tebs,

It is quite obvious jud adto jud nako i-plug ang akong gigabit sa 1 gig sab nga port... useless ang 2 - 1gb nga port sa ako switch kung adto lang nimo ibutang sa 100mbps... Then, yes, clients are only 100mbps lang..... Don't need 1gig for my client since the solution I have is more enough sa ako requirements... Yup, mahal-mahal jud ni pre kay sa usa nako ka cafe 32,000 ako palit nga 3com 2 - 1gig ports (year 2004) then 20 ka ports 100mbps... dili ni xa manageable kay manageable pwerting mahala jud n'ya wala'y gamit ang feature sa ako-a.... Naka jackpot lang ko atong 48 ports then naa 2 ka port nga 1 gig... gipa thread-in lang sa tag-iya.. hinoon dili na brand new pero ang performance it is very worthwhile... gani buhi pa jud seguro mag 6 yrs na ni (including sa iyang mga kamot pa ni)... You know, lisud pangitaon ang 1 gig year 2001 or 2002 nga lan card. Seguro mura ug switch nga 3com seguro ang price pa ani b4.. But I bought from the client also 7,000 lang..

Akong online games naa sa akong local workstation na install coz wala pa ko kita ug tweaks or wala jud tweaks seguro.. Pero ako tantra, ragnarok, conquer, MU philippines and webzen naa sa server. I have 10 seguro naa sa local (mostly online games) pero dili pa jud mapuno ako hard drive nga 40G, plus system backup ug library para sa automation...

Ahhh naka gets nako, siguro ang onboard gigabit lancard na imo na mention sa uban nimo na clients brad is entended for future upgrade sakto bako kay old switch raman ang gigamit unless gigabit ilang old.
By the way brad FEAR Combat will run ok on 6600 but ug mag lag maas maayo e set lower nalng ang graphic details, i recommend at least 2GHhz CPU, 7600GT, 512MB RAM and up and equivalent, daghan naman new games gud ron, ug maoy in demand kaayo sa mga costumers, kani na spec based lang ni sa akng experience.
