Wrong. The AFP is only allocated 0.9% of the budget. That is nowhere near to what they actually need especially that we have one of the most active armed forces. Not to mention that they need more money to buy new equipment. Blame it to our distaste for strong military probably because of the phobia caused by the martial law years.

Strong armed forces means peace and stability.

sorry to bring this old post up.. i just have few points to stress out.

    1. fatal wounds - why the soldier lasted longer than 1 hour? because of our field medics or combat medics. the training and the initiative of our combat troops helped stretched his life longer. the air force has nothing to do with it except for a medevac. but surely it could have been a great help if the air force arrived earlier.

    2. medevac - but first i would like to ask you bro, are you a soldier? well even majority or our ground troops fail to consider some facts about extraction of wounded, etc because they have not been trained and oriented with aircraft-assisted operations. evac, close air support, troop insertion are just few to mention. but any rescue chopper or aircraft should consider their own security in and out of the L.Z. for pick up.. the fact that they are tagged as RESCUE simply tells us that they are needed to exist. so if one rescue chopper is down it is another hell of a mission to rescue it. just like in the movie " black hawk down".

    3. officials flights - we cannot directly compare combat operation flights and diplmatic kind-of-stuff flights because the latter has a well established security and intel ahead of it while the other one is engaging sudden and "real time" threats. you wouldn't want to fly blind in combat zones if you happen to be the pilot.

    4. mind over body, stability under pressure - i would just like to add this one since you have mentioned one soldier who lasted for hours having "labeled" with fatal wounds. it is in the will of an individual to survive. the stronger the will the longer he can live, wounded or not.

the news is the news... some may be true, some may not...some may be more, some may be less... but the news is not always the way it happened. every news reporter has its own predetermined assumptions that may be different to that of the real issue depending on the political or emotional orientation he/she has. that is why the word "verify" exists.hehehehhe
