Frat Wars not only happen in Cebu but also in other places. It's not just between AKP and TGP, but also in other fraternities. You might have also heard about the Frat wars within the UP Dilliman Campus. Grabe sad didto ilaha. Both legit and illegit wars. Legit includes control of the student body or supporting certain group to control the student body. Ang illegal kadtong binirahay, pati na ilugay ug uyab.
I think both AKP and TGP had a hard time controlling their members, especially the out of school youth. Lisod man gani ni sila pugngan sa ginikanan, unsa na kaha ug dili kadugo. I heard long ago(or maybe nasugdan na, coz this was from a classmate who was then the president for whole cebu province, ten years ago), that they will now refuse to accept community based members. Pero sometimes, these community-based members man pud ang gisaligan kon naa frat wars. Also, other frat members form gangs using the frats initiation process, without authority from the Frat leaders. Unya these gangs, thinking nga membro na sila, mao dayon ang magdala ug gubot.
Also, there might be a problem in the initiation process, especially the one day - all physical initiation. Ang masulod sa utok sa pledgee kay bawos ra. Most can easily hurdle physical pain but not the psychological tests. I once had a classmate nga ni undergo ug one day initiation. He was so proud of his bruises and told us nga niliki ang paddle pag bunal sa iyaha. He was so eager then to join the next initiation kay sya na man ang mamunal. Di gyud siya mahadlok kay blindfolded man ang pledgee.
Senior/Alumni members should also help the younger brods, not just brag about their "kabadlungon" during their younger days. It will be better if the senior frat members form a solid group, watching over the younger members. Frat membership is for life. Respect among brothers is one value held by frat members.
From the eyes of a non-frat individual, it is easy to generalize and condemn fraternities as a menace to society. But for a fratman, it is a different thing to belong to a brotherhood. Why the hazing, and not just the usual or a more lenient entry process? The easier the entry the easier the exit. Brotherhood among men is one bond that is not easily broken. One's commitment has to be tested in the initiation process. Some larger and more prominent fraternities have their standard initiation process. Di lang gyud physical ang hazing. Apil na pud ang intellectual and psychological. This is the time when the pledgee gets to know his would be bros and vice versa. But sometimes, things would get out of hand.

Sorry for the late reply , I dont have a computer access unlike before because I am in Cebu right now having a good time but anyways , I will try to answer or comment on the issues lately regarding AKP .
- ARISTOTOLE ABES : He is the person responsible for hits specially in the DUljo Fatima area according to the media . If person above is true and a legit member , I will let everyone know about him .
- STEREOTYPING MEMBERS : Did you guys forget that Ferdinand Marcos ( Upsilonian ) , Enrile ( SIgma Rho ), Bush and Kerry ( SKulls and Bones ) , CLinton ( DeMOLAY ) made an impact of negativity to the public ??
- INITIATION : Yes the it existed but that is only the 5 % of the process to become a full pledge member . FOr AKP , you will be a full pledge member in 1 semester for collegiate members and 6 months for community members .
- OUT of SCHOOL YOUTH : I will just give the side of AKP regarding this matter . The reason we recruited out of school youths / community members is because brotherhood is not limited to students only but also for under previledge people who wish to be helpful to the community and not the reason na " SINALIGAN " sila ( community ) , I am a professional and an alumni and kung naay pabuang-buang nako ako mismo pusil but I chose not to so that justifies wala mi nagsalig sa sa communitty members because they joined AKP not to be frontliners or pawns but to function equally like their brethrens in collegiate and alumni counterparts .
- AKP as NOTORIOUS : need I say more ? Why would the public say that when public servants and law enforcers are present in our recent Xmas party namely Gayutin , Labra , Natuil , COrdiniera , Jack the Wack , Sonny O to name a few ? in general, fraternities are good in their own right. and also beneficial to their own members. ang kapait lang kay ang kaning ubang myembro sa TGP ug AKP, they have actually forgotten the essence of a fraternity. dili na na sila frat, GANG na. nasagulan man gud ug mga war freak kaayo. don't get me wrong, i've a lot of TGP and AKRHO friends, pero mga buotan man to sila oi. naa lang gyuy mga violente kaayo, gusto lang gyud ug gubot. tsk tsk.
so what to do? it's really up to their leaders kung magpeace na sila. daghan na kaayong nakalas nga kinabuhi. sayang.

hapit mi namatay diha sa mix sa ramos kay na angnan mi TGP. ataya ato oi. gikan ra mi nag praktis ako banda nya nag tagay lang gamay didto sa mix then wala naman... gi libutan nami ug mga AKP members kay TGP daw mi bisan ni ingon na mi na wala mi labot ato... may gani ni abot amigo nako na AKP sad mao to na luwas mi... ok raman nang mga frat pero di lang ta abusohan kay daghan ma among na preha namo na wala gyud labot... wala man gani ta nag frat2x para di ta ma apil sa gubot nya ma triipan lang mu kalit? mga armed pa gyud... na unsa na!
ka daghan tawn nako mga amigo na na nga pusilan kay na angnan ra... na angnan na AKP... gi pusil ug TGP... na ang nan ug TGP... na pusilan ug AKP... panic kaayo ni mga bro...

ok raman to kay ni apologize man sila namo... pero what if kung wala ni abot kato migo namo na AKP (kaila sila sa kato hapit mi bira namo...) ... i'm not saying na AKP ra ang guilty ani... halos tanan man frat na involve sa frat war ang mu buhat ani... but kuyawan lang gyud mi kay murag padung na gyud to bira kay nang hawa na ang amo mga tapad na table... wala lang mi nang hawa kay abi palang guilty... i'm not suggesting na mu buhat mu anything about ana kay bisan unsa na org naa man gyud mga bati na member... di man gyud na ma likayan... appreciate bya ko nimo SPRINGFIELD_XD_40... i know na honorabale imo intentions... pero di lang gyud ma help na ma stigmatize inyo frat (ug uban pang frats) because of incidents na ing ani... i think the best solution is undangon ang culture of hate sa mga frats... pero unsaon man na di man gani ma undang ang "culture of hate" sa kalibutan mga frat na ba kaha... all we can do is likay nalang gyud ug mga lugar na dili kaayo safe and pray nalang gyud na di ma damay sa crossfire...

well, i know for sure jud na AKP has great projects...
that, i can really vouch for. naa gud to mga clean up drive, mga fund raising events to get something fixed or to purchase something for the community... like street lights/lamps and stuff... and i would never forget the times when AKP chapters would try to raise amounts to help out members whenever they need medical assistance or if there was a death in the family...
