I love to hear you guys being concerned about your social responsibility, especially during calamities. But I humbly suggest that you find an experienced handler, or handlers, to work with you and help with this noble endeavor.

As a general rule, not all dogs can do good in SAR. We have to accept that. Certainly it's possible that your dogs will learn the search game. Many of the working SAR dogs out there started life as family pets before getting a job! If your dog is well socialized (likes people and is not aggressive to other dogs), is biddable, has the physical ability to work for multiple hours and days, enjoys games of fetch or tug or other play activity, etc. then you bet there's a chance they can do it! But to be sure, find someone who has experience working with many different dogs (you'll avoid breed-specific bias if your dog isn't "their" breed) to help with initial training. The more feedback you can get, the better.

Good evening!

Here are my comments & updates for tonight:

[1] Daghan na man ta so let's meet na. Understandably it would be impossible to have a meeting where everyone will be present (due to our other responsibilities), so dili na lang ta mag wait na maka join tanan...I for one most likely can't make it if held within November but I'll try my best.

Anyway, what's important is that we can make initial progress by creating a core group. Let's create the core group na while the heat is on.

Please post your proposed date and venues.

[2]I agree with Justice Hugo about some dog's being not so ideal for training. Anyway, our purpose/objective should be to make dog search & rescue training be as accessible and affordable as possible, mostly likely by training dog owners how to train their own dogs. I saw one video where dili pure breed ang gi train for search and the dog did very well so pwede ang askal...well not all askals of course.
