Default Do you believe in God?

i thought christians believe that their god isnt just "someone", hes so much more. hes so much more, in fact, he/she/whatever it is, is so mysterious to them. they cant even question anything hes doing. he remains a shroud of mystery for thousands of years and the people are alright with that, as long as he's "guiding" and "protecting" us. i dont know how you call the Holocaust or "9/11" 'protecting'. i call that failure. a very big one too.

i reiterate this again....the scenarios you're raising were solely the failures of HUMANITY..

u don't really see all the things that u know exist, somehow sometimes you just simply believe in their existence. Believing in GOD is based on faith not religion, our faith on a greater being who whatches over us always.

it is the failure of humanity. i agree with you, alright?! i said it again and again. my point is why your "good" and "loving" and "protective" christian god does absolutely nothing? is he weak? doesnt he have incomparable powers? cant he see it? does he think its alright? doesnt he love the people? then why doesnt he do anything? if he doesnt do something, then it must be part of the "divine plan" right? but what kind of a diving plan is that? these are peoples lives were talking about. everybody deserves to live IMO.

see, all religious discussions are a loop. my guess is you'll say "we cant question him, because its his plan" or "god works in mysterious ways, you'll see when the time comes" and all the usual christian, door-to-door crap they always use to answer ever-questioning brats like me. eeheheh

thing is, as i said, we can never prove if a god exist or not. all discussions like these go nowhere. but, i still wanna know your views. i wanna see how you prove your god. and better, if there are non-christians there, like muslims or buddhists or taoist, i'd be happy if all you would join in. since there are lots and lots of gods people make up and believe in, why not all of yours too

I believe in the God mentioned in the Bible.

    CROSSING THE BRIDGE
    (from www.rbc.net) http://www.gospelcom.net/rbc/ds/q0101/page4.html
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Each of us has a choice. We can look at the evidence for God's existence and believe that He is there, or we can set aside the evidence and decide that there is no God. Either way, we must cross a bridge of faith, because neither argument can present laboratory verification. The key question is this: In a matter that is so basic to our well-being and in a question that demands an answer, which position can we most honestly choose? Let's look once again at the options that can guide us as we cross the bridge.

    OPTION 1: God does exist.

The natural world reflects a designer and maker as much as a wristwatch or a dictionary.
Human conscience exists as an inner voice that allows the person who believes in God to follow his best judgment and highest instincts.
The Old and New Testament Scriptures claim to speak in behalf of God in a manner that is consistent with the evidence of God in both creation and conscience.
Christ is the ultimate evidence of God in that He is claimed to be the Creator (John 1:3), the source of our conscience (John 1:9), and the focus of Scripture (John 5:39).

OPTION 2: God does not exist.

Our world, with all its resources, complexities, and orderliness came about with no personal impetus, cause, or source. Everything just happened.
The laws that govern our universe have developed without guidance or direction.
Great and almost magical leaps were taken along the evolutionary way, allowing nonplants to cross the chasm to become plants, and nonanimals to become animals. Without guidance, these beings developed brains where nonbrains had been and sensory organs where nothing like them had been.
Randomness accounts for the delicate, unique composition of our planet that makes possible our existence on this oasis of life in the desert of a hostile universe.
Man is without a spirit. His existence ends at death, just as it does for dogs and cats.
Any morality that man possesses is contrived and societal in origin. Therefore, no one can be expected to make value judgments for others,
The Bible--a Book that was written by 40 diverse men who lived over a span of 1,500 years, kept separate records, recorded events independently, and told a remarkably singular story--is an incredible coincidence.
There is no master plan for mankind. Our existence is an accident, our work on earth is fruitless, and our relationships with one another are ultimately meaningless. Like a pack of wild animals, we have no other purpose on earth but survival.
Christ was not telling the truth when He said He was the Son of God who came from heaven to rescue us from eternal death and bring us to God.

Upon which option are you willing to stake your eternal destiny? Which bridge will you cross?

so we're running in circles.. ..how bout we'll take the K.I.S.S approach (keep-it-simple-stupid)...for a start you are blaming GOD why the HOLOCAUST had happened, but for me personally I'm blaming the parents of Adolf Hitler why they did not raised him properly/rightfully..if u research well on the life of Hitler then you will know how miserable his life were during his childhood years..this miserable life he experienced had greatly affected his adult life emotionally..now r/brey if Hitler had a good family background or was brought-up properly, do u think he will allow this holocaust to happen??..he might have changed his career from a dictator to priesthood.....

u dont get me, at all... i dont know how i can even constructively argue with you

IM NOT BLAMING UR GOD FOR ANYTHING.

i dont know, maybe you've been hung up on what the comedian george carlin said, maybe i shouldnt have posted that. the context is all different. point is, I KNOW THE PEOPLE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THAT, AND NOT YOUR GOD. its common logic. those are the effects for their specific actions. all im saying is WHY CANT YOUR GOD DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT? does this amuse him somehow, watching people suffer, even the innocent ones? isnt he supposed to help people? the people are his creations arent they? now dont even start talking about freewill here, we are talking about your god's compassion and love.

i dont even know why you're talking about Hitler. if you wanna talk about him, fine, i think i know a lot more than you do. he was deranged. one of the reasons why he hated the jews was because he read the holy bible, and in the holy bible, the jews were mainly responsible for killing jesus, and he hated that, so he thought he'd do your god a favor for killing the jews all over europe that way hed avenge jesus' death. yes, and you read it right, Hitler was a radical christian. you can disown him all you like, that doesnt change the fact.

i dont know where you get your facts but Hitler's parents where normal people, they didnt influence him. society influenced him. he went to art school, dropped out, then went on to the army, fought in world war 1 against france. thats where he learned all the crap in his head.

HE did that once...that was when HE sent HIS son JESUS CHRIST to redeem us all from the sins we committed eversince...But after all HE had done for us, humans always tends not to learn from there mistakes..
