Students fail in college due to many factors common in the Philippines:

(1) Students are not interested on the subject. They don't like the course they are in.
(2) Teachers love to see students who fail.
(3) No time management. School requirements are of less priority than on other stuffs.
(4) The educational system of the Philippines is so poor, which affects the teaching style of most faculties today.

Students doesn't really need to memorize everything to pass. Understanding the concepts of the lesson is enough to pass.
