Conflict among muslims have almost always been tribal in nature. Islam integrated into violent tribes usually do not make model societies. And among muslim tribes we have some of the most violent in the Islamic world. The concept of Rido for instance is something that you will find only among the most violent of tribes such as the Pashtuns in Afghanistan.

Violence is something these people understand. This can easily be seen in how the leaders of tribes and communities are those with the most guns. Sadly, violence is probably the only thing these people will respond to.

as much as i love peace, id rather say that the decision of the military to rage an all out war in mindanao is what is needed now. i doubt the sincerity of the rebels about the cease fire and peace talks...
