Good luck to the Magis Eagles and the Dragons!

Bootbox, sundog lang ko nimo sa bragging rights ...

The Magis Eagles' passerelle team will represent Cebu City in the Milo Best Basketball regional finals in Roxas City, October 21-25 for the fifth year in a row. Five (5) players of this under 15 team are also playing in tonight's CESAFI juniors game versus your juniors team.

Ingon inyong manager Samsia in a previous post nga mas bata ang CEC team kay daghan daw sophomores.... mangutana lang ko... basig gipa-balik ug pagka sophomore? mao na ang style sa Ateneo ug San Beda high school para sa ilang mga new recruits / players from outside their program.

and by the way.... Magis Eagles point guard Henry Asilum will be representing the country in Nha Trang City, Vietnam this weekend so he will not be playing for the Magis Eagles during the semi finals. Pilay ang amo team sa guard position which your team is relatively strong in. So tonight, kung mapildi pa gani mo sa mga among eaglets ... better luck next year na lang kay basig by then maka duwa na ang inyong taas nga import from Arellano University(?)

Kung mapildi mi tonight and in the next encounter versus your team ... oh well, at least nahatag na nako ang excuse kung ngano.

Besides sa tinuod lang... mas guapo kung Magis Eagles ug Baby Lancers ang magsangka kay patas ang laban... kung kamo ang kontra, siguradong ma sweep lang mo just like what you did to us last year. ergo, mas maayo kung ihatag na lang ninyo namo ang opportunity to play in the finals. Ayaw na mo ug huna huna ug defend pa sa inyong korona, roll over tonight and focus on the CVRAA na lang representing Cebu City Thanks in advance... PEACE!

last na jud... SHS AdC Magis Eagles will be representing MANDAUE CITY sa CVRAA... magkita kita ra gihapon ta puhon if you win the CEBU CITY Olympics basketball crown. Good luck!

UC IN FINALS AGAIN Webmasters boot out USC Warriors in controversy-marred semifinal match
    By Jonas Panerio
    Cebu Daily News
    7:29 am | Thursday, October 20th, 2011

    Games Thursday: Cebu Coliseum
5:15 p.m. – CEC vs. SHS-AdC (jrs.) Good luck Magis Eagles
    6:45 p.m. – SWU vs. UV (srs.)

The reigning champions University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters found themselves back in the finals for the third straight year as they eliminated the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors, 79-70, in the semifinals of the seniors division of the 2011 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. basketball tournament late Tuesday night at the Cebu Coliseum.

While the win by the Webmasters was impressive, the real headline-grabber did not occur during the game but rather after it.

Cesafi commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy and his deputies Danny Duran and Julian Macoy got into an ugly heated scuffle and shouting match with USC head coach Mike Reyes, his assistants and some Warriors supporters.

As the final buzzer sounded, Reyes approached the referees to voice out his opinions regarding what he deemed to be inept officiating. According to the long-time USC coach, as he was talking to the officials and expressing his disappointment, Tiukinhoy came over and suddenly pushed him. Seeing the commotion, USC assistants Ryan Betia and Ron Vivar came to pacify things but the latter got pushed by Duran and challenged to a fistfight.

As the security personel tried to separate the quarelling parties, a USC supporter got into the heat of things and started to voice his displeasure over the actions of the commissioner from behind the barricade. Upon hearing this, Tiukinhoy charged the person and also started arguing with him as all hell started to break loose.

Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed and the situation did not escalate further.

“Last night, I really tried to remember if I was being too aggressive with the officials during that time and I really don’t think that I was,” said Reyes. “Sinasabi ko lang na kung gusto nila, panoorin namin ang tape ng game at tingnan kung ilang beses nila kami tinawagan ng foul while binabantayan namin si (Junemar) Fajardo.”

Cebu Daily News tried to get the side of Tiukinhoy but he declined to issue a statement, pending the submission of his incident report to the Cesafi Board of Trustees.

The Webmasters leaned on the 37 points by Fajardo, 14 of which came in the final period.

Argument between Cesafi commissioner and USC coach turns ugly; UC wins beats USC in semis| More | By Edri K. Aznar and Erwin S. Lirazan

    Wednesday, October 19, 2011

THE ending of an exciting semifinal duel between defending champions University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters and the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors was ruined after an altercation between Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy and USC coach Mike Reyes.

After UC ended the season of USC by knocking them out with a 79-70 victory the other night at the Cebu Coliseum, Reyes got into a heated argument with Tiukinhoy that almost turned into a fistfight.

“I went near the referees to talk with them. I was not aggressive then he came out of nowhere and pushed me,” Reyes told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday.

Tiukinhoy and Reyes traded barbs, which went on for a couple of minutes, before being separated by the Cesafi security and police officers who were in the Cebu Coliseum.

Sun.Star Cebu tried to call Tiukinhoy to get his side of the incident but he was unavailable. He, however, sent a text message to saying he is preparing a report for the school owners about the confrontation.

Assistant commissioner Danny Duran, who was also included in the fracas, spoke to Sun.Star Superbalita and denied Reyes was calm and composed.

“Wala man to siya (Reyes) nakigsulti, nangasaba man to siya sa mga referee. Wala ko nakakita kon gitukmod ba gyud siya ni Tiukinhoy pero sobra ra man sab to iyang reklamo,” he said.

Duran said he tried to pacify Tiukinhoy and Reyes but he admitted he blew his top and had a heated argument with one of the USC assistant coaches, Ron Vivar.

“Unya ninghamag na man sab tong ubang staff, ubang players maong niduol na lang sab ko. ‘Sus pagkadaghan na ani,’ maoy akong nasulti.”

Reyes, the brother of renowned Philippine Basketball Association coach Chot Reyes, said he believes he will be treated unfairly by the commission and anticipates the worst.

“I’m not expecting an apology. I expect them to do something against me. It has already happened in the past. We’ll just have to wait.”

It was a competitive match going into the fourth quarter with UC on top by just three points, 58-55.

Behemoth center Junemar Fajardo traded baskets with the Warriors’ center Cid Cortes at the beginning of the fourth period and Cortes cut the lead of the Webmasters to just a point after a jump shot at the 7:26 mark.

However, Fajardo started a 9-0 run for a 71-61 lead in the 2:06 mark. USC then scored five straight points to make it 66-71 but UC scored seven straight unanswered points to seal the game.

Fajardo had another dominant performance with 37 points, Jan Auditor added 17.

Giovanni Padillo, on the other hand, had 21 points for USC, while Cortes contributed with 17.

UC will be waiting for the winner of the semifinal match between Southwestern University (SWU) and University of the Visayas (UV) in the finals. EKA/With ESL of Superbalita.

    Mga duwa karon:
5:15 pm- CEC batok SHSJ-AdC (jrs)
6:45 pm- UV batok SWU (srs)

GILAUMANG magpunsisok ang mga tu*matan-aw sulod sa Cebu Coliseum sa panagharong sa karaang hugot nga managribal nga mao ang Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras ug 9-time champion University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers karong gabii sa laing semis nga engkuwentro sa Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) college division.

Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos.

While it is within the tendencies of Coach Mike Reyes to be passionate about arguing(as far as I have known him), its just pathetic that a commissioner get into a shouting match with a spectator or a fan, just PATHETIC!
