While it is good to be on the radar , realistically we lack infrastructure and city planning , there is much that need to be done.

Very true. A lot of work has to be done like improving the quality of roads all over the province, expanding and enhancing the Mactan Cebu airport, increasing hotel rooms, etc. Still a long way to go to #1.

As columnist Bobit Avila wrote years ago - we should not rest on our laurels after achieving something good. The work to improve should keep on going on and on.

Local authorities would really help promote Cebu's tourism credibility by inviting local and foreign sports organizers to bring their events here. Cebu is badly behind many other Philippine regions when it comes to sports tourism and the only local government unit that is taking sports tourism very seriously is the city of Lapu Lapu.

Just imagine how good it would be if Cebu City, Mandaue City, Talisay City and others each become more active on sports tourism. The officials should realize that having many, many running events throughout the year is insufficient to attract athletes and tourists.

With that said, it is also high time to build up brand new and modern sports facilities as well.
