your better of getting a kia or a hyundai as these cars have NCAP ratings and pass the stringent European safety standards. These asia market only vehicles have not been crash-tested by independent labs such as NCAP and therefore it would always be safe to get a car that has been rated and approved by the European union or the USA.

Japan Vehicles might not be crashed tested by NCAP but it has been in major standard Labs...
getting korean cars might led you to a bad long term investment...

    just my 2-cents

However, fans of the Toyota brand and model could look for this as their replacement of their old fortuners.

The latest Montero Sport still looks the same. No face lift was done (except for the change in front grill on the GTV, w/c you can always buy separately). The biggest addition/change to the current model is the Engine. It now has VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger) on a 2.5 Diesel Engine. It has improved performance over the previous 3.0L Diesel Engine.

    My take:
Wait for the official release of the Fortuner here in the Philippines if you're a Toyota/Fortuner fan. If not, then the latest Montero Sport is your best choice.
If you're a person more concerned on the cosmetic/external properties of a car, I think the new Fortuner is your best bet since it has a relative new face-lift which can turn a couple of heads. The current Montero Sport's image/form is too "pang-masa" already since it exactly looks the same since launch and since a lot are running around already (a lot could even an understatement for the commonness of this ride).
If you're a person more concerned on performance, go with the current Montero Sport w/ VGT, enough said.
    Agree. Well said.

Ahe-he... sigurado ka bossing? 4 years na akong santa fe but no regrets. Nag kadaghan ang SF sa atong roads. even the the new models from KIa. Di man siguro sama kadaghan sa Fortuner but we SF owners have the feeling of exclusivity driving cars in our streets.

Mas nice ang montero because of its form factor plus advantage pud sa Horsepower compared sa fortuner. Montero has 177 hp while fortuner has 102 only. Layo ra kau ang ride sa montero ug sa fortuner. Naka test drive ko ug 2012 Model na fortuner wa may kausaban sa iyang Ride, bumpy ride lang ghapon. Then very heavy siya dad on. Bug at kau cya padaganon. Ang naka nice lng sa new fortuner model kay gi facelift na nila and medyo swabe ang Tail lights nya. But overall still Monterosport has my vote... Cheer up Mitsubishi.....
