i have seen this just lately, the girl died in the hospital... kung makita nimu sa video ikaduha jud cya gi ligsan. nya ang mga tawu nga nakakita as in d ko katoo nga murag wala ra sila. d to magsilbi kung sa ato-a pato nahitabo kay kung diri pato gikulata nato taman2x dili lang and nakaligis kundi ang mga ****ers nga gatan-aw ra sa bata... sus gatan-aw ko sa video mura jud kog ka hulboton ug sundang dayun tigbas atong mga tawhana to uy.... pisti...

Seen this video too. Mao to ang klaro nga bystander effect to the grounds that they don't have clear initiatives to intervene in the incident and relying actions only to the higher authorities.

I also saw that video of the SM (not Cebu) shooting. Laina kaayo kung ang atong awtoridad magka "bystander effect" oi. Useless ang first aid kit nga naa sa kilid. Hay naku.

As to the video of the Chinese girl, there could have been a crowd pero wala lang nakita sa camera. People could have been gathering on the other end of the street. Just because you didn't see it doesn't mean it wasn't there. Then again, I know nothing about the mentality of people in China.

BEIJING—More than a dozen passersby ignored a two-year-old girl as she lay critically injured on a street in southern China after being run over twice, the official Xinhua news agency said Monday.
The incident has sparked outrage on China’s hugely popular social media sites.
Surveillance cameras showed a series of people walk past the girl, named Yue Yue, after she was hit first by a van and then a truck outside her family’s shop in the southern Chinese city of Foshan.
Xinhua said a rubbish collector who finally came to the girl’s aid, moving her to the curb and shouting for help, was ignored by several shopkeepers before he finally tracked down her mother who took her to hospital.
In response, one netizen on Sina Weibo, a Chinese microblog similar to Twitter, wrote: “This society is seriously ill. Even cats and dogs shouldn’t be treated so heartlessly.”
But others linked the incident to an earlier case in which a man who tried to help an elderly woman after she fell over was prosecuted, apparently because his intervention broke government rules on dealing with accident victims.
Doctors said Yue Yue was in a coma and unlikely to survive the ordeal.
“She would not be able to survive any operations. She’s very close to brain death,” a spokesman for the hospital treating her told AFP.
Police have detained the drivers of both vehicles involved in the incident, Xinhua said.

how is this worse than when a motorcycle driver here got hit by a car, then a bunch of people "helped" in into the ambulance. Then later on the driver realized his pocket and watch are missing.

you're just being racist without understanding how things in china work. people there are afraid of the chinese state police. if you help, you could be the one end up charged with the crime so over time people learned not to help to protect themselves from the police.

i'm just making a comment on the situation regarding to that so called "bystander effect." and frankly, if that's how things in china work, i cannot find anything human in that.

not to be a racist, I can't help but comment about it.

No surprise here. If you only knew how most Chinese people treat their animals there, especially dogs, you will not wonder why some people behave like that.
