diri pa ni nahitabo, hawan na na iya cargo.. gipatimbang na sa junk shop...
chief off, is incharge of the cargo handling such as the distribution and securing/lashing with of coarse captain's supervision….
actually duna naman na sila load planning so basically ang chief off ug ang loading master from shore maoy mo tuki bahin niana. and as far as i know dili man mo dawat ug cargo ang barko more than her capacity… mao nga overloading is not the main issue here, nag rumbling lang to sa pics tan awon kay siguro natanggalan ug lashing tungud sa bawod sigehan hampas every now and then ang uban container na washed away nana sa daplin.
and the captain as over all in-charge is the one liable.
calling mam snowfly, istoryan chief off

the voyage plan was being followed before each watch commence, the voyage plan is created in advance and carefully assessed before the ship set to sail, the navigator is purely aware of the vicinity whether there are shallow areas, and danger areas.. we will wait what is the real score on the investigation..
on the other hand on my own view, maybe the 2nd officer avoided other vessels but cut short when trying to come back on his original course but the action was to late and it end up on the reef..
there was a report that the charts used were made from China and unreliable...
here's some update extracted from other forums:
The comment about the charts started from a maritime union having a go in the media so it may not be overly reliable info. The ship was stopped in Australia for safety concerns and when it arrived in Gore (NZ) that list of items were checked and apparently the ship was cleared. The Captain and the first mate have both been arrested, Captain has been charged, im not sure about the first mate. Apparently it was the captains birthday so I suspect the authorities will check for Alcohol. the ship is owned by a Greek company and registered in liberia so getting actual compensation might be a lenghty affair. Also the insurance cover on the ship is capped so anything over and above that limit will need to be paid for by the government.
Oh Captain, My Captain. Hope this will not cause any negative impact to other Filipino captains out there.
im not a seaman pero as what i just ask sa ako cousin (still waiting for the name of that position)... naay taw maoy incharge sa mga kargamento so kung ingon ka nga kapitan maoy nag boot kung pila makarga is sayop nga assumption unless naa kay ika backup... correct me if im wrong im just asking arround...
