Hmmmm..... Shattered family and broken dreams are my greatest fears in life. Thats why I gave up my career for the love of family. I joined w/ him in almost all his contracts thereby making me understand the life of seafarers. It has encouraged me to study the same profession with his help....and Presto!

Such an inspiring story you have ma'am. I wonder how your children dealt with having both their parents being away. Mao pud gani ni ako fear ron, not being able to witness my baby grow up. Mao as much as possible mag dali jud ko na ma officer para shorter na lang daun ang contracts.

Bro, i was once in that same situation. I was a 3rd yr POLSCI student because I have always wanted to be a lawyer but since I got married and had our 1st baby, all my plans had changed. My wife's older brother is a Chief Officer and since we are all living in the same house, maibog jud ko mag witness that they are financially capable of acquiring anything (latest gadgets, car, house and lot, etc..) while ako, been working in the call center industry, maglisod gani ug provide para sa ako wife and baby. Such a sad experience.

My bro-in-law encouraged me to take up a Marine course instead kai layo pa kaau ako labangon if mopadayon ko coz after I'm done with POLSCI, mag take up na pud ko ug Law for another 4 years. To make the story short, I am now enrolled in Marine Transportation in UC-METC and so far i'm loving it. Not to mention that I have always been interested in ships since I was a kid.

Kaya na nimo bro. Everything is possible if you're doing it for the future of your family.

I admire your determination kok3n.....and look at you now?.... same w/ you, I change profession to fit my needs - to be w/ my husband most of the time and to have a better living conditions for the children.

I was a full time house mom, started joining in 1983 when my eldest was 2yrs.old then, 15 days was my shortest and 4 months my longest stay onboard. I left them w/ the yayas and my mom or mom inlaw. Its better to leave the kids at those early age kay dali ra nato ma bribe sa material things. I decided to go back to school when they were already in h.s., lisod na sila biyaan at that age most esp. uso na ang drugs.If there is a chance during sem. break or summer vacation, I will join w/ him onboard.

Decipline, Time management, bank w/ Emotional attachment and fear of God are the key. When the children are grownup,,,, well, its the wife's turn to Shine!.
