SMART, SUN, GLOBE pa man ako nahibaw-an nga cellular companies deri sa Pilipins.

SMART - GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA(3G), HSDPA
SUN - GSM, GPRS, EDGE
GLOBE - GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA(3G), HSDPA

dili na new ang CDMA. It was offered before by PILTEL-MOBILINE, karon merged with SMART. Pag merge sa duha, gi-discontinue ang CDMA kay kusog man ang GSM...kusog meaning daghan subscribers.

Ang cellular technologies nga gigamit dire sa Pilipins bro kay nag sugod sa:
1. AMPS (1990), Extelcom una then PILTEL
2. TACS (1993), SMART
3. GSM (1995), Islacom una then GLOBE
4. GSM (1997), SMART
5. CDMA (199, PILTEL
6. GPRS (2002), SMART una then GLOBE
7. GSM (2003), dinhi man tingali nag sugod si SUN
8. EDGE (2003), SMART una then GLOBE
9. WCDMA (2006), SMART ang una then sunod si GLOBE
10. HSDPA (2006), GLOBE ang una then SMART

GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, HSDPA... all can access the internet, ang diff ra gyud is speed sa UL and DL. phone support also matters.

hehehe i think those company dont offer edge; they just offer gprs and 3g (hsdpa)

naa na ang EDGE bro...GPRS lang ang common nga gigamit. Ang EDGE kay naabtan sa 3G.

EDGE is an upgrade from GPRS. Pero kung ang imo phone dili mo support ug EDGE kutob ra ka sa GPRS. Compared sa EDGE capable phone kung magpadala ka ug data mas dali mo DL or UL kung EDGE kaysa GPRS.
Mas paspas pud si WCDMA(3G) kay ni EDGE.

Evolution padulong 3G, kung GSM platform...agi ka sa GPRS then EDGE then WCDMA(3G).

sure ka bro? as far as i know edge is not available on the phils... why? because edge class 10 can handle 236.8 kbps speed... and before 3g was introduced in the phils. im already using edge capable phone which is nokia 6230i and im using my phone as a modem on my pc to connect to the internet (globe hack lang proxy trick hehhehe).. check the specs at this site http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_6230i-1087.php
