I asked my girl about this earlier, she said that though it doesnt matter esp. if you stayed long with the person, as guys daw, we guys should know that you girls wanna feel special and proud too. And she thinks most girls want their men to be healthy/cool looking, even if they wont say it. And that if you love a person, you should also want the person to be proud of you in any ways possible, and not just say "my partner loves me, I dont care na if Im fat or such"...
I somewhat agree. Though at the same time, you cant expect your partner to be totally the one you wish him/her to be.

well of course we would always prefer men who can well take care of themselves. basically hygienic but not OC, toned but not overbuilt, well-dressed but not overly trendy, well-groomed but soo not narcissistically gay and
