    karon na lang shy siya

    Camera-shy Noy

    10/04/2011

The statements of Palace deputy spokesman Abigail Valte that President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino is simply biding his time to visit victims of typhoon “Pedring” simply because he does not want to become the focus or the center of attraction when he visits and that of Palace spokesman Edwin Lacierda that the President is not fond of photo ops are simply stupid.

Since when has a head of state avoided visiting calamity areas to personally supervise its relief and rehabilitation program and the same time comfort its victims simply because he does not want to become the center of attraction?

No matter he does or doesn’t do, he will always be the center of attraction because, let me remind him, he is the President of the country and that all people look up to him especially in time of calamities such as what Pedring had wrought.

And since when has this “student council President” become camera-shy?

Didn’t he pose for the camera sitting behind his empty table except for that pack of Marlboro?

Wasn’t he caught on camera all smiles the day after the bloody Quirino Grandstand hostage-taking crisis?

Wasn’t he photographed during his recent trips abroad either enjoying that burger, buko juice or that video on a computer?

And now all of a sudden, with almost the entire Central Luzon under water, he has become camera-shy!

So, when will he be visiting the calamity-stricken Central Luzon? After the situation has stabilized and until assistance has been extended as Abigail puts it?

Abigail and Edwin, by that time, he will no longer be needed there! His visit then, however you want it, will all be intended for photo ops!

And you want us to believe that the President is hands-on on this matter?

Noy, hindi lang pala ikaw ang hindi nag-iisip! Even your spokesmen are not thinking before opening their big mouths!

When Ondoy struck the country in 2009, former President Gloria Arroyo, even if she was only a few months away before stepping down from office, showed us what it takes to be a hands-on president.

Braving Ondoy’s wrath, GMA climbed onboard an army truck in full rain gear including a pair of rubber boots and made her way to the meeting of the then National Disaster Coordinating Council in Camp Aguinaldo.

A few days later, with Ondoy’s damages running to billions of pesos and hundreds of thousands of families displaced, GMA then personally asked oil firms to hold back any plans of increasing the pump prices of petroleum products.

That was partly, how she managed the Ondoy aftermath.

Which reminds me then of this administration’s insensitivity on the plight of the people.

Despite an overwhelming clamor even from its allies, Sen. Ralph Recto included, the Aquino administration refused to budge from its position and went on with its plan to impose value added tax on toll fees.

In a last-ditch effort, Bayan Muna Rep. Teddy Casiño appealed to Noynoy to suspend the imposition of the VAT on toll fees in light of the damage and economic dislocation brought about by typhoon Pedring, saying its imposition “is comparable to the outgoing and incoming typhoons in that it will cause the devastation of people’s incomes and livelihood, on top of the damage wrought by the weather disturbance.”

Casiño’s appeal, however, fell on deaf ears as the government had started collecting the controversial tax from motorists taking the expressways.

In the next few days, the government is also set to stop subsidizing the MRT and LRT fares which would effectively increase the fares on these transport systems.

And this is what could have been keeping Noynoy and his people busy: Computing how much it could collect for its coffers at the expense of the people’s miseries.

Noy, a camera-shy? If there is one thing Noy should be ashamed of is why on earth an incompetent man like him who had failed the people miserably on his campaign promises, is still occupying the President’s seat.

ang suweldo bro naa ra na sa tao pod.. ug sa gobyerno. kung maayo pagkadala sa gobyerno, dako ang suweldo. tanawa lang ang Singapore, ngano dako silag suweldo. Tungod ni sa investment sa edukasyon, infrastructure, etc. tanan negosyante bai, U.S. sa China, Japan bisag asa pa.. mapahimuslanon.. kai ngano? profit motive is the primary concern sa business. dats the bottom line whether you like it or not.

bisag asa pa ka, naay companya nga arang arang, naa poy dile.. pero ang negosyante ga-agad ra na sa gobyerno. by way of analogy, the government builds the container, the businessmen just fill it up. businessmen take advantage of opportunity thats given them. Thats why in richer countries, the government is very pro-business, they craft laws to encourage business. more business = more competition for workers = higher wages.

dinhi, ambot lang bai.. i'm honestly surprised why so many businessmen do well here given how bad the investment environment is. almost all businessmen find loopholes in our laws to exploit, cos to tell you honestly if you're just going to follow the rules 100% you will never succeed here. ingon ana ka bati atoang mga balaod og gobyerno.. expert ra sa extortion peru dili jud kamao motabang.. haste gale ang tax credit pangwartahan pa..

and i wouldn't call it exploitation if you're getting a wage. nobody is being forced to do anything man... you can work wherever you want. if businessmen here are so bad, you can always work overseas. still... our country being the way it is, is more the fault of government than businessmen.

P814M released to power up 1,410 barrios

    By: Ronnel W. Domingo
Philippine Daily Inquirer 10:06 pm | Monday, October 3rd, 2011

Malacañang has released P814.4 million to provide electricity to 1,410 barrios throughout the archipelago.

Budget Secretary Florencio B. Abad said in a statement that the fund disbursed to the National Electrification Administration (NEA) would address the urgent need for power in 33,370 sitios that are without power.

The top three regions where bulk of the funds would be disbursed under the NEA’s Sitio Electrication Program (SEP) are Northern Mindanao, accounting for P116.9 million to power up 184 sitios (settlements); Bicol, with P84.8 million for 136 sitios; and Central Luzon, with P64 million for 117 sitios.

SEP is a 10-year electrification program undertaken by the NEA. It aims to provide power to all un-energized sitios in the country.
The program was initiated in 2010.

Priority areas, according to NEA’s criteria, are those that are situated near tie lines and those with electric cooperatives that may implement projects.

This latest fund release comes in the wake of the P1.62 billion allotted to the National Power Corp. earlier this year, which was meant to prevent power shortages in far-flung areas across the country.

Last week, Abad said his department had asked for Malacañang’s approval for an additional disbursement of P90 billion for other projects like socialized housing, and rural infrastructure, such as bridges and local roads that connect to national roads.

“In choosing projects that this [proposed fund] would cover, we are looking at the breadth of economic multiplier, and the benefits to poor communities,” Abad said. “These [projects] should also be quick-disbursing.”

The budget cheif explained that the fund would be drawn from the dividends contributed by government-owned and -controlled corporations.

“We will also utilize continuing appropriations from the 2010 national budget,” Abad said, referring to allocations set in a particular fiscal year.

Sus deny pa jud, review your own posts from page 465-468 clearly you are against capitalism, contractualization, and outsourcing.

Basin nakalimot ka more than half a million of your fellow filipinos are direct beneficiary of outsourcing, the BPO industry. Sometimes there are foreigners who would say "You filipinos are taking away our jobs from us!" and i can only sympathize with them. I hope everybody will understand this is the nature of free enterprise.

why Gibo was criticized after Ondoy?

MANILA - Disaster-preparedness officials warned Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro about the possibility of widespread flooding this year, but the presidential aspirant apparently miscalculated when he did not act quickly on purchasing life-saving equipment.

The country has a National Disaster Coordinating Center headed by Gilberto “Gibo”Teodoro who is running for president. Under his watch Gibo ( a Harvard graduate) failed to coordinate with PAGASA to make an informed decision in handling Ondoy, which is just an ordinary tropical depression, and to rapidly deploy the resources of the military in handling rescue and search efforts.

were those situations in bold happen during Pedring?
