That is too illogical. And you are comparing it to the existence of God? It is blasphemous in nature.
Did I say that I blame Bram Stoker alone? I said, and let me say it again, the folklore, as it is considered even today, was magnified into a worldwide phenomenon by stories of merchants (who traveled in Eastern Europe such as Transylvania) and Bram Stoker's novel. Upon hearing these, my theory is, since the tele didn't exist before, people find amusement through story-telling. Thus the folklore or the myth of the vampires became widespread.
It is true that vampires exist in different cultures, or more accurately, similar folklore occurs in other culture. I said similar but it doesn't mean the same. People tend to call them vampires because of the similarity in the folklore found in those of Transylvania or East Europe. But it doesn't mean that they are the same. Other cultures have different beings but they tend to associate it to vampires because it is a more popular word.
Once again, these stories existed when the tele and other forms of entertainment still doesn't exist. People have story telling as the form of entertainment. Thus various legends and myth existed. Meaning, products of imagination. It is illogical that since you can't find proof that they don't exist they must existed. I posted various folklore or mythical creatures. Do you believe in them too? How about the Gods of Olympus? You also believe in them? Medusa? Cerberus? Scylla? Caribdis? How about Zuma? The legend of blusang itim? Or should we go modern? How about gremlins? They are quite similar to other creatures from other cultures too. They also existed? How about a school in England teaching elvish language based from Tolkien's novel? Legolas is also for real? There is no proof that he didn't exist. I could name hundreds of creatures and legends here. The point is, your argument that they must have existed because there is no proof that they don't exist is so lame.
