as i know the inverter models are can minimize you're electric consumption even if you set 18-20 temp. I think you can save the electricity because you're compressor is a variable. meaning it will minimize the speed rotation of the compressor.., if the desire temp. reach...so meaning slow speed minimize the consumption of electricity..
actually crowne aire will have incoming inverter models next year, but prices will be higher, inverter models are advertise that you can save 40% to 60% if you
set the temperature at 25, but at 18 to 20, maybe at 20, you can save 10%, but remember maintainance
wise, cost of repair specially if there are leaks and breakdown of the CPU and compressor, it is very much more expensive and since it's a new technology, we really don't know if the compressors will last as long as the regular rotary compressors, as inverter compressors don't stop, they just slow down or speed up, that means unless you shut off the aircon, the compressors don't have time to rest........... it's just like when rotary compressors came out against piston type, comment was piston type lasted longer.
