Talking about promoting our indigenous arts to the public ( in which a majority of which is stil unfortunately ignorant), i think there should be concerted efforts to educate the public about its place within the Filipino culture.

Maayo didto sa manila. They have formed IGSSAP ( Indigenous games and Sports Savers Association of the Philippines), a group recognized by the Tourism Authority. Naay mga Arnis groups nga apil as well as Sikaran and other indigenous arts. There primary goal is to educate the public to preserve and protect our indigenous culture thru the native games and martial arts.

Next week, moadto ko manila. ill be seeing wid one of their officials and maybe i can have an idea how theyre promoting their activities.

During my sessions with my pinoy students (mga bata) I always talk about the history of fighting arts of our heroes. Lapu-lapu ang number one... unya sagulan dayun ug binuang aron dili ma bored ang mga bata. But the fact is, history of our legendary fighters should have been promoted over and over aron ang mga tawo makasabut ug unsa diay and kinabuhi sa atong mga heroes. One book that I really admire is Mark Wiley's "Filipino Culture" - dili lang kabahin sa pinoy artists but all the concerted efforts of those legendary fighters who fought hard with the use of their wits and their will to survive. I always read the book by the chapter to my daughter and to my little students. Sa mga puti, lisod kaayo sila pasabton ug kabahin sa atong history and culture.

As freeflyer would say, "concerted effort to teach" - we are slowly making our tracks by teaching some people about our native arts. I wish I have the money to promote FMA aron kahadlokan sab ta sa ubang mga manlupigon. Slowly, hollywood is adapting our ways of fighting... daghan nang nagpila nga ang atong Martial Arts are not to be taken lightly. We don't kick high as TKD, Muai Thai, ug uban pang MA but the effectivity of our system proves that some movies are taking serious and adapting it.

Diri sa St. Augustine, FL, gamay ra kaayo ang schools nga nakahibalo sa atong styles - mostly Chinese Martial Artists knows the system (not practicing) usa sa akong kahinabi "Sifu Chow" (Ilustrisimo Practitioner) said, if he only knew FMA when he was 7 or 8 years old, he would devote his life to learn more of it... Therefore, proud kaayo tang mga pinoy nga we have a MA system that precision is one of the main factor to learn FMA.

yep i heared about it, its a nice move. i have read some of the programs...buit am skeptical about some styles which are included by the program

makalingaw sad ning martial arts... naa man sad ni uso-uso. in the 60s it was karate, 70s it was kung fu/ jeet kune do, 80s kickboxing, late 80s taekwondo, early 90s kenpo ( remember " The Perfect Weapon"?), late 90s aikido, early Y2k BJJ..... hahay.... mura sad nig sinina ang martial arts. sunod sunod sa fad. but true blue martial artists are not swayed by the band wagon effect. pero at least martial arts are getting into the mainstream because of this..
