R.E.M. split after 31 years together
They have been performing together for more than three decades but today R.E.M announced they have slit up.
The group, made up of Mike Mills, Peter Buck and Michael Stipe, posted a statement on their website earlier today.
It read: ‘To our Fans and Friends: As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band. We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished.
It added: ‘To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening.’
Each band member also gave their own views on why the band was splitting and singer Michael Stipe said: 'A wise man once said "the skill in attending a party is knowing when it's time to leave." We built something extraordinary together. We did this thing. And now we're going to walk away from it.'
The American rock band formed in 1980 as a four-piece band including Bill Berry on the drums.
The group achieved critical success for their debut album entitled Murmur, but it was not until 1987 that the group gained mass popularity with the album Document.

i really love this band and i so love Everybody Hurts - tagos gyud ning kantaha
eversince i've known them, i doubt if their band name really stands for Rapid Eye Movement and accdng to wiki, Stipe selected this name at random from a dictionary..
so, unsa ba gyud? na-disband na cla pero no one can tell what REM really is, pero hu cares! REM is REM

michael stipe has great vocals... sadly he's gay also..
but anyway all in all, the band made a tremendous hits way back in the 90's
