AVR hiccups

It's been almost a year now since I started using this Nippo servo type AVR model:SVC-1000, and earlier today it got sick.

While the PC was turned off, the AVR started making this high pitch "whirling" sound in a beeping manner. The interval of the "whirl" was the same. It took me a while to figure out where that sound was from.

I turned the AVR off and pulled the plugs of the PC, speakers, and the monitor connecting to it. I turned the AVR back on but it was still making that same on & off whirling sound. I unplugged and plugged back the AVR, this time it was only giving one (same high pitch) whirl right after turning it on, then it was fine. I did the unplugging a few more times and the whirling was totally gone. I plugged an electric fan to it, and it runs fine. The voltage meter is still giving 220v.

So what was that about? Anyone have this Nippo servo thingie AVR getting sick like this? I thought servo is forever. Now I don't know if I should plug back in the pc.

I could return it to Thinking Tools where it was bought, but I don't know where the receipt anymore, and besides I don't want them opening it as they might just make things worst.

have it checked by qualified technician, or send it in for warranty...

Possible causes, corroded trimmer resistor, it is used to fine tune the wiper arm (slide voltage selection) to stabilize the output voltage...

WARNING!!!!

ayaw lang sa ipaslak imong PC ana bro, it has the tendency to overvolt, let someone repair it, kung hilig kag D-I-Y or naay gamay knowledge about electrical/electronics, ikaw na lay convert ana...

convert the trimmer resistor to a fixed type resistors (1 watt) in that way di na siya makatok pa...ever hehehe

or kung naa pay warranty, i-uli lang sa na bro BUT it has the tendency to do that again, same scenario...
