I think the Cebu government should look into an efficient mass public transpo first before they debate on weather to build more flyovers or widen the roads. Majority of the people and tax payers are public transpo commuters. And if we have an efficient mass public transpo then a lot of people would be leaving their cars at home. Thus, less traffic for the city of Cebu.

Agree kaayu ko ani. KAdto didto ko sa manila, halos tanan taw mu prefer mag LRT/MRT kai barato, paspas and mas less hasol kaysa bus and jeep. Problema lang, crowded na kaayu ang MRT. They need more Cars to accomodate more passengers. For Cebu, one of the reasons why people prefer to drive their own private vehicle despite expensive fuel prices is we really have no efficient Mass public Transport system to speak of. PLus, questionable pa jud imu safety if mag lakaw2 ka sa dalan sa uban areas sa city. kung safe palang atu streets and naa ta nindut na MAss transport (BRT/MRT) ma pareha na ta singapore. mga taw dli jud tapulan mang lakaw padung train station/bus stop. safe man pud kaayu mga dalan. maka lessen ni sa vehicles and pollution.

hongkong's MTR is one hell of a public transport system.. very efficient and on time. cebu needs to have like this. but a subway might cost more than the whole national budget.

alternative solution...

WIDEN the streets, then put up the BRT or LRT/MRT transists... even cutie can then put "her" flyovers after the streets are widened.

impractical ra kaayo mag butang ug flyover diha dapit sa DSWD. free flowing na mga sakyanan going to mabolo church pero tanggong ra ghapon diha sa entrance hipodromo ug intersection sa ayala. bottleneck nang dalana diha. kung iwiden na nga dalan, dakog posibilidad mu luag nang lugara. naay one lane para sa mga sakyanan mu left turn sa ayala ug free flowing na bisan two lanes going to mabolo church.

isnt that a sound plan? cars accomodate space and in order to give that space, you need to widen the roads. kung duha imo sakyanan sa inyo balay nya designed for 1 car park imo balay, you expect to make a second floor just to accomodate your second car? of course mag expand jud ka.

If doable, both. But I would go for a thorough study of the overall traffic situation. Look at SRP now, the volume of traffic specially at rush hour is getting seriously affected by the volume of vehicles that pass there. With the fast paced development by bigtime companies, the road network can easily be overwhelmed. If nothing is done to improve access and the opening of more secondary routes, my guess is once the malls and other establishments start to operate there, entry and exit from the tunnel will not be as smooth as it is now. The same goes for the other road networks in Cebu.
