sorry...I'll have to check and research links diri sa internet
    kay usually I'm not a copy-paste person

but try googling "the Treaty of Paris" coz there you can find your answers
and though it doesn't state or not mentioned Mindanao, during that said date, is not a part of the Philippines
but it says in the agreement where gi bayran ang espanya ug certain amount to turn over the territories in the belonging to the Philippine archipelago under their Spain's SOVEREIGN RULE.
And there try to figure out which is included under Spain's governace...apil ba ang Mindanao or have they estbalished a working government in Mindanao during that "purchase?

I also agree with the theory nga Spain is ok with it since they find it futile to desperately try to occupy and control Mindanao in vain so they let go of it nalang for a price.
Imagine the Bread Basket of the Philippines if makuha nila I dont think they would just turn it over

^^^or they could have fallen under the gray areas of the agreement
the spanish couldn't care less...same with the americans. just ink the deal to get it over with
and padayon sa ilang mga real global political agendas

also during those period there are no specific or standard means of charting territories
unit of measurement is not that unified as compared today
and there are far lesser and solid treaties before than today's ASEAN, EU or NATO or UN or unsa pa na

    or what do you think?

    but seriously bro
spanish era churches are also one indicators who's dominant of which area or territory
during those times its like a raid, plunder and burn everything to the ground policy
and who has the most game piece standing in the end wins the game

    Article III.

Spain cedes to the United States the archipelago known as the Philippine Islands, and comprehending the islands lying within the following lines:
A line running from west to east along or near the twentieth parallel of north latitude, and through the middle of the navigable channel of Bachi, from the one hundred and eighteenth (118th) to the one hundred and twenty seventh (127th) degree meridian of longitude east of Greenwich, thence along the one hundred and twenty seventh (127th) degree meridian of longitude east of Greenwich to the parallel of four degrees and forty five minutes (4 45') north latitude, thence along the parallel of four degrees and forty five minutes (4 45') north latitude to its intersection with the meridian of longitude one hundred and nineteen degrees and thirty five minutes (119 35') east of Greenwich to the parallel of latitude seven degrees and forth minutes (7 40') north, thence along the parallel of latitude of seven degrees and forty minutes (7 40') north to its intersection with the one hundred and sixteenth (116th) degree meridian of longitude east of Greenwich, thence by a direct line to the intersection of the tenth (10th) degree parallel of north latitude with the one hundred and eighteenth (118th) degree meridian of longitude east of Greenwich, and thence along the one hundred and eighteenth (118th) degree meridian of longitude east of Greenwich to the beginning.
The United States will pay to Spain the sum of twenty million dollars ($20,000,000) within three months after the exchange of the ratification of the present treaty.
who can explain this to me please? or who can show us here if Mindanao, indeed is excluded sa treaty? hopefully with images and pointers demanding ra kaayo? hehehehe... interesting topic lang kay karon pako nagka-interes sa history

again an aged old debate... it has been resolved long ago.......................that's why Mindanao is part of the Philippines, and Muslims are our brothers, they may have refused Christianity during Spaniards rule but they are Filipinos none the less, they own the land they till and live in, just like we own ours by our rights.....the sparks of debate and legitimacy of obviously resolved claim.... fueled hatred for generations, and uncalled for sufferings.....look at taiwan, singgapore not all of them were muslims, nor christian but progressive... cause of there un backward mentality/attitude....

lastly......... i personally thank ts for the wondeful/informative vintage pics shared......
