What is the title of this Walt Disney animation whose lead character's features (like the hair color) were based on another famous biblical character, Mary of Magdala or Mary Magdalene? Though the makers didn't officially said it as it is, however, there are various similarities and suggestions that would directly link this character to the "other Mary". The plot of this movie is basically about love and how it conquers adversities. The original story of this fairy tale however is a tragedy. Nevertheless, the producers changed the ending to make it more appealing to children and make the line "and they lived happily ever after" (as like most fairy tales end) applicable. There is even a popular statue erected in Copenhagen, Denmark (not so sure about the location) that honors this Hans Christian Anderson character.
