As to which characters found in the Bible was the basis of Joe Ruby and Ken Spears inspiration for the characters in the cartoon series (later adopted into a movie) Scooby-Doo. The 5 main characters represents these Bible characters.

Though the makers didn't officially said it as it is, however, there are various similarities and suggestions that would directly link this character to the "other Mary". The plot of this movie is basically about love and how it conquers adversities. The original story of this fairy tale however is a tragedy. Nevertheless, the producers changed the ending to make it more appealing to children and make the line "and they lived happily ever after" (as like most fairy tales end) applicable. There is even a popular statue erected in Copenhagen, Denmark (not so sure about the location) that honors this Hans Christian Anderson character.

im with you on the j'onn j'onzz being the tallest among the JL founding members...
but you again are using JLA...JLA is only on comics...thats never mentioned or indicated in the animated series...
my point directed to you in my 1st post and this post is that this thread trivia is not about the comics version.

Correct again. It is indeed Walt Disney's The Little Mermaid. Various suggestive scenes have it that Ariel is basically influenced by Mary Magdalene and the most obvious similarity is the red hair.

Mary of Magdala has been viewed as the powerful metaphor for the plight of the "Sacred Feminine" over the last several thousand years of western civilization. She has been systematically devalued and made diminutive, relegated into the watery depths of our unconscious (like Ariel, the seventh of seven sisters), controlled and patronized by the "benevolent" patriarchy (Ariel's father, King Triton, in the Disney movie). Ariel's face is dark, like that of the Bride in the Song of Songs (1:5), "swarthy" from her labor in her brothers' vineyards. And she has long wavy red hair, a commonly held attribute of Mary Magdalene.

In her cave under the ocean, Ariel collects artifacts from Spanish galleons shipwrecked at sea. She examines the commonplace items used by humans and wonders what they are for and what it would be like to be human. Among her treasures is a painting by Georges de la Tour called "Magdalen with the Smoking Flame." Mary is gazing at a candle burning on the table beside her. I guess nobody has an idea on this. Let me share it to you then. It is quite common for creators (cartoons included) to have their characters inspired from other forms of literature, the Bible even. Joe Ruby and Ken Spears also got their inspiration in the Bible when they created the main characters of the animation series Scooby-Doo.

It was also the inspiration of the group of villain lead by Apocalypse in the animation "The X-Men". Apocalypse has his "The Horsemen of Apocalypse". The Horsemen of Apocalypse are a team of fictional supervillains in the Marvel Universe that serve the ancient mutant Apocalypse as his personal strikeforce. The horsemen are always given the same names: Death, Famine, Pestilence, and War.

While Apocalypse has altered and empowered a number of individuals to serve him, such as Ozymandias, Exodus, Mister Sinister, or Moses Magnum and has also employed other teams such as the Alliance of Evil and the Dark Riders. The Four Horsemen remain as Apocalypse's main followers.

All of Apocalypse's horsemen are alpha-level mutants.

The first modern Horseman recruited by Apocalypse was Plague, a member of the Morlocks, whom he recruited during the Mutant Massacre to fill the role of Pestilence. He then approached ex-soldier Abraham Kieros and granted him the position of War. Autumn Rolfson was Apocalypse's third choice and was given the position of Famine. Apocalypse then saved the dewinged Angel from his sabotaged, exploding plane and chose him to be his fourth and final Horseman, Death.

In Scooby-Doo, the main characters were also characterized from this Biblical characters. Fred, having the appearance of brute resembles WAR. Daphne, being slim resembles FAMINE. Velma, always letting her head rule over her heart resembles DEATH. Shaggy, always looking crampy and gives the appearance of not having a shower resembles PESTILENCE. And lastly, Scooby-Doo is the THE BEAST (The Devil) himself. Do I need to elaborate more?
