You first have to understand the difference between faith and science, so you can distinguish fact from fiction.

^^ I'm specifically talking about THOSE who consider science as the SOLE authority in deciding what is true/false.

If they cannot provide a universal, verifiable scientific proof that science is the SOLE authority in deciding what is true/false, then the basis of their belief is FAITH.

By the way, akong balikon ang akong question ni Mark V., kay mura'g wala ni niya tubaga.

Unsa may imong masulti sa pipila ka almost invisible, insignificant beings who live on that very small blue dot, with the concept called science - a product of their very tiny thinking organ, claim that the whole universe originated in a random fashion without the aid of any intelligence?

Dili kaha mas grabe ang pagka-delusional aning mga tawhana?

nganu ganahan man jud ka TS muopen ug thread with science and faith oi? hehehe...

    "Science & Faith"

Tried to break love to a science
In an act of pure defiance
    I broke her heart.
As i pulled apart her theories
As i watched her growing weary
    I pulled her apart
    Having heavy conversations
About the furthest constellations of our souls. oh
We're just trying to find some meaning
In the things that we believe in
But we got some ways to go.
Of all of the things that she's ever said
She goes and says something that just knocks me dead.

You won't find faith or hope down a telescope
You won't find heart and soul in the stars
You can break everything down to chemicals
But you can't explain a love like ours.

    Ooohhhh
It's the way we feel, yeah this is real
    Ooohhhh
It's the way we feel, yeah this is real

    I tried pushing evolution
As the obvious conclusion of the start.
But it was for my own amusement
Saying love was an illusion of a hopeless heart.
Of all of the things that she's ever said
She goes and says something that knocks me dead.

You won't find faith or hope down a telescope
You won't find heart and soul in the stars

I disagree. You can't reconcile science and faith; it is simply impossible. You may try to thicken the truce but at the end of the day, they are two different systems. Faith and religion forces intolerance, superstition, and ridicule to every human advancement. Faith and religion does not permit men to think logically. Religion teaches man to follow the narrow path of believing in doctrines and medieval mentality.

Science, on the other hand, does not hesitate to expose the superstition and old age knowledge, and aims to further advance our knowledge by evidence that establishes FACT.
What does faith has against science? There is only 2 things theory of evolution and BigBang theory.
Physics, Genetics, Thermodynamics, quantum physics law of relativity, gravity all scientific laws ect. have coincided with faith so far.

Unproven Theories such as Evolution and big are the only proponents of faith.

I guess it is more delusional to believe that there is an invisible man, who created everything. I find it hard to believe.

You have no reason to call scientists delusional. They focus on facts, they focus on TANGIBLE materials! To think of the intangible, say, God, spirits, souls, are a waste of time. Because ever since man existed, man has created ideas of gods, to explain the unexplainable.

Simply put, God has no bearing to science. It will be worthless to talk about divine beings in science.

But after science sprouted a lot of religious superstition has been disproved. And an example of a religious superstition? That we humans were created by a divine being, and that we came from dust, and the earth was the only place in this universe to harbor life.

    WHAT A HYPOCRISY!

If you'll consider the Drake Equation (in case you don't know it, do your search) there are millions of civilizations existing in this galaxy alone. One civilization is the human civilization.

Imagine the billions of galaxies in this universe, each galaxy has stars, each star has planets orbiting around it, each planet, lying on its habitable zone of its solar system, has a possibility of a civilization.

What's more DELUSIONAL is not only do these people believe that there is an "intelligence" behind everything, they also believe that this "intelligence" talk to humans.

If SCIENCE is the answer to everything then how come it left a lot of UNANSWERED QUESTIONS ? So before we can label it as a FICTION , SCIENCE rather be laying down answers to these questions . I know its beyond you but the cream of the crop in science left it UNTOUCHED , UNACKNOWLEDGED , or plainly RAISING the WHITE FLAG . Is it because of fear of ridicule and criticisms ? Thats why the burden of proof is now in the hands of SCIENCE because if it can easily say the non existence of a SUPREME BEING , how did they come up with that CONCLUSION when in fact everything else were just THEORIES ?

Sure, there are scientists who are religious, but in a sense, it is quite contradicting. There are some scientists who actually try to harmonize evolution with creationism, and I think they are being intellectually dishonest.
I dont find it contradicting at all because these SCIENTIST used SCIENCE to figure out these things . Remember when I said something about the MISSING LINK a veyr long time ago when pwerting inita ninyo debating about CREATION vs EVOLUTION in SnO ? It was again left unanswered . I just want to know how you guys fill it in because after that , I can patch up things through the HARMONY of the THEORY and the STORY .

It is not impossible ... heck I just even watched NATGEO last night from their episode of HUNGRY GHOST FEASTIVAL . Pwrting ka involved man lage sa SCIENCE when investigating the SUPERNATURAL , HAUNTINGS and the likes .

Heck , the discovery of the CHARIOTS underneath the seabed somewhere in the Red Sea ba to or Dead Sea by ARCHAEOLOGIST was based from the bible . Ngano ni consult man ni sila sa bible in the first place ?

And pwerting daghana pa gyud examples that SCIENCE and the BIBLE worked hand in hand . It doesnt have to be RELIGION by the way .

Science, on the other hand, does not hesitate to expose the superstition and old age knowledge, and aims to further advance our knowledge by evidence that establishes FACT.
But isnt the process of these research makes the FAITH and BIBLE as part of it to some STUDIES being CONDUCTED ? let alone , again ... the UNANSWERED questions I have from previous SnO topics about EUCHARISTIC MIRACLES . This time though , bali ... ang CHURCH ang ni duol sa SCIENCE asking for assistance .

    @ LADY GAGA ...

Kadtong mga EUCHARISTIC MIRACLES ... TANGIBLE man jud kaayo to . ma smell , ma kita , ma feel , etc yet it left the SCIENTIST who investigated it and asked for further assitance s aubang reseaerchers from different fields of knowledge all left DUMBFOUNDED ?

Since its a Saturday , I thought of sitting down and making sense of this topic in my own little way. Morning Springy! hope you have a good long weekend.

I believe its all relative , yes the universe is vast but an office maybe a 100 square meters. I think people act to what they see , hear, read , taste and the list goes on, to our immediate little surrounding.

Most of who I know don't go saying , well i'll be a hermit because the world , the universe is vast thus I need to humble myself.

My point is , live your life , give yourself a break sometimes and when you are placed in a spotlight at times as a good human being you deserve it. I'd like to think we were all born good.

Whether it be in the vast universe, a blue colored dot we call earth, or this connection of PC's - Trust me you and me matter

    My 2 cents

Why would it change our paradigm when we know we are only dots in the universe?
