Again, who told you that it's OK for christians to attack another religion? Wala ka nakabantay nga kadtong mga threads sa pipila ka kristyano diri, gipang-close sa mods for that very reason? I guess you really need to familiarize with our house rules here.

Mao na'y giingon bro nga why bother asking the question when you already know the answer. Maybe it's to prove they are right and we are wrong. Hate to break it to y'all, but there is no right or wrong answers here. And yes, you are all off topic.

Balik mo sa topic, which is skepticism and why people believe in bullshit.

Kun tinuoray pa nga skepticism (wala'y sagol nga pagbugal2x sa mga theists) ang main subject aning maong thread, nganong gi-post man sa TS kanang maong comment sa taas?

I am unsure about the TS' intentions; but I am sure you are all off-topic. I hate to get this thread closed, so as much as possible, let's discuss the true intention of this thread, which is:

popular claims of therapeutic touch, psychic detectives, faith healing voodoo curses, channelling, and the media's lack of inquiry into pseudoscience.

This, in particular, interest me the most:

the media's lack of inquiry into pseudoscience.

Any opinion on why this is so?

Fair enough. Let's get back to the topic and AVOID any inflammatory remarks about the theists. Kay dili man kaha na maoy topic diri.

I'm a theist but currently, I don't believe in psychic detectives, faith healing or voodoo.

If you're going to include dolphins in that set of creatures with a conscious mind, then you must lay down the criteria of what constitutes a "conscious mind". Does that mean that any creature with a brain is a conscious mind?

That's why I said that you're line of questioning is not as straightforward as you think, because you're applying philosophical terms of "consciousness" and "mind" to non-human creatures. You need to settle that issue before you're going to say that my answer of DOLPHINS is invalid. There's no contradiction in what I said earlier because the purpose in that "hotly debated topic" was to point out that non-human creatures are not yet considered as "conscious minds". Therefore, until dolphins are considered as such, my answer remains valid.

Yes DNA CONTAINS the genetic instructions, but it's not just the container; it's the container and everything in it. Remember what you said? DNA is just a container.

Yes, the nucleobases are the alphabet set for DNA. How they assemble together doesn't require a conscious mind? How DNA gets to be arranged in a certain way is governed by Mendelian laws, and sometimes mistakes (mutation) in copying occurs in the process of transcription...and guess what? It's still a living being. Unlike human language, DNA doesn't have rules for mistakes.

You have to be more specific by what you mean by "Language"? Is it grammar rules? Is it the style of wording? Is it the idea behind what is to be expressed? Whichever way you answer this, the scientific position is that, once the universe got going, everything followed the natural order (i.e. the laws of nature).

I think what John Lennox (from where you got this point) meant was this: in the overall grand scheme of things, is it possible that there's no mind behind at that very beginning (the Big Bang) that would lead to something as complicated as DNA? I don't think he was saying that DNA itself isn't produced naturally. His point was about the whole history of the universe from its quantum beginnings to how that could lead to humans thinking about that history.

It's still hypocritical of you to have this personal crusade to single out the atheists. If we go by Forum rule No. 2, it also says cultures, races and sexualities. I've seen you disrespect atheists who didn't even do any of the ridiculing. If you make a blanket attack against all atheists (even if it's an act of revenge), then that makes you guilty of violating rule no. 2. Isn't it your argument that atheism is a belief, therefore it has to prove there is no God?

You might as well ban atheists from talking about atheism. Because when atheists talk about atheism, you wouldn't want to hear about why we don't believe.

Since you've appointed yourself as the police chief for Rule No. 2, another hypocrisy is that you have no problems at all making homophobic comments to florigaga. Remember the rule includes respect the person's sexuality also. Or are you now going to say that sexual sensibilities do not include homosexuals?

It seems you're the no. 1 violator of Rule no. 2 and yet you feel all this hypocritical righteous outrage about my little jokes. Compare all my posts and yours to everyone else (yes I've committed a handful of blunders but they're too lightweight to merit even an infraction. Just ask the mods how many infractions I've received. Yes, ZERO)...and you tell me who's more respectful.

    To quote yourself,

I guess you really need to familiarize with our house rules here.
OT: YANONG, you have the last words here. I agree with you that our argument belongs to that locked thread, not here. I apologize for that joke and for offending you. As regards to yielding to your point, let's just say we agree to disagree. Shall we bury the hatchet?
