VMware ESXi 4.0 Server is free to download! and it comes free with management softwares. Great for barmetal virtualization (no need to install host os) but VMware is very selective on host platforms.

For desktop virtualization, VMware workstation has more features than virtualbox but virtualbox is free. Virtualbox also rocks!
VMWare has been around for quite some time so I trust it.
My friend uses VirtualBox on his Linux. It's also open source so I kinda like but I haven't tried it.
ahm, i think VMWare is not free, but i have used it before but did not like it for my personal preferences.
i find Virtual Box better, its lighter and i think its from "sun" correct me if im wrong.
also the last time i used VMWare it does not have the compatibility for windows vista maybe they have it now
If you're talking about VMWare Workstation, ok ra na on your PC bisag production pa. I haven't had corruption issues even when my host PC crashed. VMWare Workstation is very useful for testing software because the guest PC is isolated from the host PC. Just make sure you have enough memory. For example, when testing Windows 7, you need more than 1Gb RAM on your host for smooth results.
If you're talking about VMWare Server and using it on production, best leave this to the experts.
Ako gamiton ang VMWARE everytime nai mu paslak usb sa amo PC nga dli akoa.. Para ma delete ang virus didto or if ever makalusot, didto ra pud cya ma affected.
*unsa diay benefit if sa vmware ka mag program?
OT:
gamit nku sd "virtualbox-4.1" Oracle VM VirtualBox..png test sa mga apps most particularly for retrieving lost/deleted files on windows/unix system..hehe
I used VMware Workstations 7.x in testing Windows Server platform configurations and simulations (AD, DNS, DHCP).
You need high-end physical machine for your host OS, though.
