I had to wonder why it would choose an evolved primate over, say, dolphins or the whales. Don't these magnificent creatures need saving a lot more than homo sapiens? As far as I can tell, some species of whales are on a fast track to extinction. Homo sapiens, on the other hand, are trucking along just fine...growing exponentially at that.

That only says so much about our own consciousness. Because we have a "higher" consciousness compared to other animals, as a result we tend to see ourselves as more important. And why do you have to wonder about our own extinction? We're just fine...that's proof that god loves us!

I disagree. Faith and religion robs life of its meaning. You end up not taking life seriously because you're confident there's another life once you die. Life without God is more meaningful because you treat each moment as precious knowing that death is the end, and that there is only ONE life to live. The reason you turned your back on atheism is because you never understood what being an atheist is about.

Atheists are still humans and thus we have emotions. We form friendships, we love, we care for others, we grieve, we feel happy, we feel sad, etc. Why do you have this notion that just because we don't believe in God, that our lives are deprived of meaning? Where did you get this philosophy?

I have a loving family, I've got a job, I've got hobbies, and they give my life meaning enough. I also try to help others as much as I can, because I want other people to be happy as well. What else is there to want? Why would I willingly subject myself to the whims of a supposed all-powerful and vengeful God (if one did exist)?
