it's all the same. Harbour City, Dimsum Break, Ding Qua Qua, Ding How --same owners, exact same recipes and taste.

Try the beef satemi. one of my favorites!!!! apart from the usual steam rice and siomai

nothing beats the ambiance of the original ding how at the building at corner manalili and legaspi (?) sts. at downtown during the '70's. it was situated at the top floor and had a roof deck for an extension. back then, dimsum was served in ricket carts and everything was red - from the chairs, tablecloths to the uniforms of the waitresses.

i swear, the taste back then was different (and better in my opinion) from the fastfood served at ding quaqua and dimsum fastbreak. the pork had less fat and the siomai was ALWAYS fresh.

the prices back then - well, the lowest that i could remember was the steam fried rice at 3 pesos only as well as the dimsum. softdrinks was 50 cents. a 500peso meal nowadays could be had back then at 20pesos with change.

anyway, inflation does that to everything and everyone. but i do miss the ricket carts. that's what makes the dimsum dining experience unique. nowadays, even in hongkong, dimsum is served by order and not by carts anymore. i like it when the cart used to pass by your table and you get to choose what you want by actually seeing what's available.

    BRING BACK THE CARTS !!!!!!!!!!!
