Deep Gold got trashed by ClicktheCity.com

The entire movie is burdened with this lack of attention to detail, scenes falling apart as logic is thrown out the window. To be fair to the picture, it has lavish production values, and the location shots are gorgeous. But bad editing gets in the way of the storytelling as well.

I’m not sure if the film would actually have benefitted from better acting. The material is such that it can’t really be delivered with any sort of gravity. Hypotheticals aside, it’s probably safe to say that Bebe Pham isn’t a great actress. Her line delivery is terribly stilted, owing to a tendency to overact even the smallest of emotions. Jaymee Ong isn’t much better. She’s called on to carry one of the film’s most dramatic subplots, and she’s ill equipped to handle it. Michael Gleissner, who also directed the film, is clearly having fun with the role he’s given himself.
