Seriously, worrying over increasing the Jaywalking fine to 500-1000 pesos is like being considerate to a criminal. It's like leaving your door unlocked because you're concerned that a burglar might have a hard time breaking in. -_-

jay walking was a city ordinance passed during sammy darza's time when he was head of citom. 1995 when i first worked here in cebu, was one of the best place when it comes to following road rules. if you guys can remember. we have walk, don't walk signs before. we also have that button that you have to push if you need to cross the street. jaywalking was enforced all around the city. specially at fuente, colon, capitol, and other areas with heavy foot traffic. vendors don't occupy the sidewalks and even mr. darza does traffic by himself often. i remember when jeepney drivers will tell you that you can only go load and unload on jeepney stops. then one day all of that was gone. someone removed that great guy from citom and all was a mess again. how can someone replace someone who make things work. i read in a news column before that mr. darza didn't exempt anyone, not even the mayors family and close friends that's why he got sacked.

after that, the one's who replaced that great guy who made things better was replaced by people who stays more in their office and lay eggs. and made sure that the nobody who's close to the mayor will no longer be publicly humiliated again... ever!

dli gyd baya tanan mo agree ana like ka2ng mga nagdali.

What type of thinking is that? Should we just let corrupt practices flourish?

Regarding ignorance, that's why you need to know your rights.

Papili-on tika, mohatag ka ug kwarta or mohatag ka ug oras?

It's possible nga naay mga corrupt CITOM, but this is not the issue here. The issue here is that we need a higher penalty TO DETER PEOPLE FROM JAYWALKING.
