You're seriously underestimating kids. And, parents are supposed to guide children on what they see. A rational parent will merely explain to the kid what the sculpture is all about (the facts behind the work of art, and NO opinions from the parents) and let the kid use his/her own brain to make the interpretation.

Mao nga narrow-minded kaayo mga tawo karong panahona kay bata pa lang, gina sultihan na daan WHAT TO THINK, and not let kids think for themselves.

And people wonder why countries in Europe / the Western World are more progressive than ours?

Sige ta'g sulti "Unsa man ang pamaagi para mag-improve/mag-progress atong nasod?" and we keep blaming government and politicians etc. etc. Look around you--the problem lies with the people themselves (and since it's people who run government, they are not spared from the blame either).

I am not trained to be an art critic, but here is what I have to say about that art work--it was done in poor taste (I bet you were dying to hear me say this), I feel it's a pale imitation of Dadaism, executed in a rather tongue-in-cheek mediocre manner, as far as artistic skill is concerned...but...but...

    ...that is NOT the point.

The point that everyone keeps missing (I mean, the "stand" of people like me here in this thread) is not about the QUALITY or ARTISTIC MERIT of this work--it doesn't matter if it's ugly or beautiful, the issue is freedom of expression and its curtailment/censorship.

What I'm trying to defend is not the QUALITY of this art installation--I'm trying to defend what it stands for, in the backdrop of any citizen's right to freedom of expression. This guy obviously has a message for the church, and as an open-minded individual, even if I find his work to be ugly, he has succeed in calling my attention to what he had to say or express.

If we were NOT living under a democracy, I wouldn't even be in this thread, but we are, and as a citizen living in a democracy, I have to point out what is wrong with this current situation.

Nobody is missing the point here because it is clear that the very reason why such artist could have made it so sensationalized by mocking the RELIGIOUS COMMUNITY is that , he is just plain IRRESPONSIBLE . If he is to make a WAKE UP CALL to the church , why in a such DISRESPECTFUL MATTER lage ?

Although I am not expecting your answer to my question yet , UGLY and DONE IN POOR TASTE is not even the right words to be used but INSULTING and DISRESPECTFUL fits more better .

The very reason why I came up the statement talking about REAL ARTIST because anticipated na man gud na ang next place na masandigan sa artist kay its not about his " QUALITY of WORK " but of what he wants to express . Well in deed he expressed it right the way he wanted it but the point being made here is that , we all have to agree that what the artist did was BELOW THE BELT .

See? Para nimo. Ang problema kay dili lang man ikaw ang tawo sa kalibutan. You're attitude is basically screaming that you want to get rid of people like me and "level me with the ground"...and we call this country a democracy? And they say Christians are peaceful people.

    Double-standards suck.
