Do not say “I am proud to be a Filipino” everytime Manny Pacquiao, Charice, Lea Salonga do something noteable because those are their accomplishments and not yours.

Kung dili, aw, dili pud angayan nga moingon ang mga pinoy nga proud sila sa ilang pagka-pinoy if Manny, Charice, Lea, etc... do something noteable.

Kun pilipino si Manny, DILI sayop ang pag-ingon nga 'I am proud to be a Filipino' kun makadaug si Manny sa boxing. Ang sayop mao ang pag-ingon nga 'I am proud to be Manny Pacquiao' bisan kabalo ka nga dili ikaw si Manny Pacquiao.

Sama ra gud na kun makadaug sa regional o national contest ang imong igsoon/anak/kapamilya, sayop diay ng moingon ka nga 'I am proud of my family's achievements' ?

shouldn't we be also proud for the forgotten people, deprived of the limelight, working behind the public eye to serve, defend and build our country?

there are more than just limelight personalities to be proud of. usa pa, we should also do our part para naa sad ta'y ikaproud sa atong kaugalingon, not just being proud of other people's accomplishments.

my point is u have to own up to your flaws pud
before you can be proud of something

you have to be committed to your identity regardless of how you were before what you currently are
you have to make a stand on what or who you are and that itself it pride no one can take away from you
dili kay imo lang identify imo kaugalingon to those glory attained and worked hard by others and the only connection between you and them is pareha ug spelling or has the same geographical local inyung countries

of course, maproud ko sa akong family. i can say, "I am proud of my family". For example, ang akong family name kay, Smith (char!), kanang musulti ko nga "I am proud that I am a Smith, because my father is a noble peace prize awardee" is sayup!
