Could we have gotten a better warship? Maybe...especially if we didn't have those expensive retirement plans and Euro junkets for the generals.

    Sun Tzu's second principle states:

Now an army may be likened to water, for just as flowing water avoids the heights and hastens to the lowlands, so an army avoids strength and strikes weakness.

Avoid strength, attack weakness. If we, the Philippines, are doing this arms build-up with China on our mind, I think we should work more on our strategies instead. I don't think China's going to blink once we rattle our sabers. Their sabers are much, much bigger and they can make lots of loud noises. Bravado may be "dignified" but the senseless deaths that results from it makes it meaningless.

^^Even if we didn't have those, I don't think we have the resources to sustain a Naval fleet strong enough to repel a Chinese attack, even if gatinarung pa ta ug manage sa atong kwarta and nindut ug dagan atong ekonomiya.

    Agreed.

I think that if China wants to become the region's bully they will need to muscle up by getting their carrier fleet and support personnel/boats up and operational, too. This could be for another 2 or 3 years from now (my guess).

Could be a nice discussion in another thread. But for now, if China decides to send their boats around the islands and BRP Gregorio del Pilar is there, it will be an interesting situation.

It would be tense moment, for sure.

I think it's about time we make our own boats... I think we have enough Iron and other minerals that goes with it. Skills and man power we have.. it is just the question of appropriation of the funds and priorities.. I guess..

I think anyone can make a steel boat. It's all those new technology that comes with building one that's gonna cost us.

Why don't we force workers and contractors to do it for free. Most likely that's how COMMUNIST china does it. heheheh

So you mean we might as well accept what we have and forget all possibilities?

Nope. I didn't say we can't do it. I said it's gonna cost us.

We'll need money -- lots of it -- in order to get a good Naval fleet going. Pero if we don't have money, we can always substitute it for time.

louya d.i natu sah? mura naman tag junkshop sa other countries...

junk shop sa car parts sa japan/korea..

junk shop sa mga dress/clothes/accessories from different countries.

junk shop sa mga war gears and vehicles like USA.

I thought before jeepneys are from the Philippines originally, and then I've read long long time ago they're just vehicles left by the Americans after WW2.
