Let's also put the solution to the corporate level. Encourage companies private or public to implement other office hours or put some employees on a home-based job assignment whichever applies. If I'm a computer programmer or a sales guy, I don't have to go to the office the same time as others, or even not go to the office at all!

Encourage homeschooling to all private or public schools, in that way, student won't have to waste hours just to go to school, and instead learn and be educated at home.

I would rather implement the solution on this level rather than spending billions of money creating super highways, oh I forgot, we already have superhighways...the internet!

^^ I would say the solution is not going to be a one-prong approach. Telecommuting (work-at-home options) and homeschooling would be part of a comprehensive strategy and they're solutions that can be implemented in the short term without incurring much costs. But one has to also consider the population growth rate...projected far into the future, like 20 to 50 years. Population density by then will have reached a critical mass where it'd no longer possible for vehicles to navigate on our existing road system.

Yes, these things cost money. But complex road interchanges don't have to be built all at once. They can be introduced in phases and evolved in complexity when the need arises and once the budget allows. The existing flyovers can form part of a larger system.

Other solutions should include creating incentives for people to move into high-rise apartments, building MRT networks that cover the major areas of commercial/business activities, bus transport system (with designated bus stops, terminals, and time schedules), and even legislations that would slow down the rate of migration into the city (that means we should start looking into what types of individuals we want entering our communities: skills, talents, capital, etc)...and so on.

I believe kung tarong rah pag manage sa road di man kaayo traffic... ang usual solution man gud is road widening which I think is stupid kay ang 2 lanes diri ma himo man gali ug 4 lanes samot pa kung i.widen.. nah samot.. kahibaw na mo mga taxi ug jeepney cge ra pataka ug suksuok..

and if they don't want to be a bus driver, then let'em be a PUJ driver, but the government(LTFRB) must stop franchising on jeepneys and, start franchising on buses, in that way, there will be a slow change on the roads, and time may come, Jeepney culture will stop, hehehehe, remnants of WWII will be put in the museum peacefully
If memory serves me , this was the time when they were discussing , a rail or bus system some time ago , thoughts and opinions were raised between the various transport sector. As for converting Jeepney drivers to bus drivers, maybe it could work for some but there are just too many drivers vs. the amount of buses, plus I doubt if these people will be happy giving up there franchise.

I personally like Bus or rail , it not only helps with congestion but well being. Taking out the stress of driving from point a to b , a bit of exercise walking from one stop to the other and onto place of study or work.

Another issue is proper roads , bus stops , infrastructure that we don't have or afford. So it boils down to Funds and Proper City Planning. I think with the help of the private sector maybe ... Its a matter of trust between both of these sectors that there is very little off.

Actually the easing of jeepneys would really help with traffic , lets imagine for a bit , I remember when we did traffic news , my manager told me , for every couple of seconds a jeep pulls over , cutting everyone behind, it created 1 min to more of a bottleneck. Thats for one jeepney ... how many jeepneys do we have? a lot! Everyone knows the stopping in the middle of the road to get passengers will never go away, Why? because it is survival, man will do anything to eat. But imagine for a second without that you'd automatically see a big change in traffic. Can it be done , maybe. When, maybe not in our lifetime. I agree when u say give them alternative jobs that really address a good livelihood.

Enjoyed reading this idea , I like the easing plans into a grand scheme , using phases.

The last paragraph is nice but its not going to happen anytime soon , all boils down to budgeting. It would be really great to think when we are in that level of having a bigger percentage of the public as middle income. I've seen government projects in Manila ie relocations to bldgs , goverment incentives etc it didn't work because after a few years it ended up to be another slumb. It's not only building infrastructure but improving overall culture.

Bisag unsaon nato ingong "DISCIPLINE", yes in our part we can be disciplined all the time pero naa man jud mga tawo nga mo violate. We need a traffic enforcer who is visible all the time para magkinto tong mga violators.
