The iStorya.net forums is just like a Saturday Night party in a local neighborhood. Siguro nakadungog ka nga naay party so you got curious and decided to go. When you arrived at the house na notice nimo nga open ang gate so nisulod ka. At the moment you crossed the thresh hold, you are totally aware that you have stepped into private property, and whatever democratic claims you may feel you hold, no longer apply--it is now the owners of that house that dictate the rules. Then you realize the only way you can enjoy your stay is either to abide by the rules, or you can also do the obvious option of leaving the party. Pero dili man ka ka lakaw kay nalingaw man sad ka. Pero you wanted more--you wanted "freedom" within the party. So you start a little "movement", kanang "among ourselves, ato-ato ra ba" while being fully aware nga you're STILL inside private property. You try to spread this info around the party, nga naa man mo katungod to express what you want (even if whatever you express is beyond what the owners and caretakers of the yard and house can tolerate).

So think of that again--you're in someone's yard/house, and you're rallying people to create "an advantage"? From a legal standpoint, do you think your effort has any merit in the eyes of fairness, considering nga IKAW man ang nisulod sa balay, and you are FULLY AWARE that you were FREELY allowed to get in, PROVIDED you obeyed the rules of the house, unya karon kay dili man ka ganahan (dili nimo "feel") ang mga patakaran sa tag-iya sa balay, you feel nga you need to create "an advantage"...an advantage against the caretakers and owners of the house you just happened to be a VISITOR in? Do you realize now, how absurd and ridiculous this is?

If this were a real party, there is actually a term for people like this: gatecrashers.

I actually agree with this post. For once, ni agree na gyud tawn ko ni kajrot.

Bitaw, sa katong mga naa'y issues with the mods, better keep it to yourself, take a deep breath, and move on. This is their house, not ours. Kung ma ban ka, aw ban ra bitaw na, pila raman pag himo ug laing account. Tan-awa si tokidoki, kalma ra kaayo na ban, log-in dayun sa laing account. Ana ba. Cool lang gud.

Istorya.net is not actually similar to a Saturday night party in a local neighborhood. Ang gasto sa usa ka house party naggikan sa bulsa sa host. Duna ma'y 'gatecrashers' o wala, padayon gihapon ang party.

But here in istorya.net, the presence of these 'gatecrashers' is essential. Mag-unsa man ang usa ka forum kun pulos lang admin og moderators ang members?

Let's be frank about it. The internet traffic that ordinary istoryan members have generated is the reason why premium members want to spend their money for premium membership. That is the reason why google, aHappyD3al.com and other advertising entities want to pay money for putting their ads in istorya.net website. Ayaw ko'g ingna nga ang kwarta nga gikan sa paid ads ug premium membership wala makatabang sa monthly expenses to keep this site running?

Mga gatecrasher diay ang panan-aw sa mga istoryan insiders sa ubang mga members. Maong sayon ra nila palayason sa ilang ganghaan. Asa naman tong meaning sa istorya.net forum song, wala na diay to?

- The reason why iSTORYA.NET has become what it is now is because of the enforcement of the rules and our ability to somehow maintain the real essence of the community with or without the participation of the majority. That is with the help of the mods and a select few who knows what we're really about. I'd be prouder if we're smaller but more active on our outreach activities than grow so big and lose sight of what we are about.

- I'd be lying if I say the revenue generated through ads and paid memberships don't help. But as stated numerous times, we can afford to survive without them.

- Talk about anything and everything we have in mind..... but make sure they conform to the rules.

@mods. I have a question. Once an account has been banned, how many days or hours can we create a new account?
Also, if someone has been muted would you consider a new account a violation?

Please tell me where did I indicate nga TANANG visitors sa iStorya kay gatecrasher? We do NOT have to pretend here that we don't know what we're talking about--I'm talking about certain individuals who are out there, who happen to be NON-moderators (who perhaps secretly wish they had the power of a moderator but too bad they aren't moderators, and perhaps who also preoccupy themselves with questions like "Giunsa kaha ni nya nga nahimo man siyang moderator? Curious ko dah!" or "Unta ako pod mapili nga moderator--unsaon kaha? Magpa-outspoken kaha ko, basin mo stand out ko so basin diay mapili ko!" or even worse "Hahay dili dyud ko ma-moderator kay puro man na sila mga friendships with each other in real life, so since dili nako friend si Beor, so dili dyud ko ma moderator ani! Ka unfair sa kinabuhi oi!") who feel they are "above and beyond" any sort of reprimand from a moderator, for they would feel it would "taint" whatever "image" they have of themselves (that they feel or believe other members have of them) in the boards. There are also those nga perhaps sa ilang tibook kinabuhi wala dyud sila ka-tilaw ug reprimand kay "good person" sila, so they find it offensive nga they receive something of the sort kay feeling nila dili sila deserving of that kind of treatment (and for these sort of people, I have to say, welcome to the REAL world).

But as stated numerous times, we can afford to survive without them.

There you go. By that remark, my gatecrasher analogy still works.

@mods. I have a question. Once an account has been banned, how many days or hours can we create a new account?
Also, if someone has been muted would you consider a new account a violation?

Dili ko mod (obviously), but allow me to answer this question since imo man ko gi-quote.

As vern indicated a while back on another thread, clone accounts are generally acceptable as long as the clone does not do harm and follows the forum rules. Lemme find that post. Oooppps. Found it. Here it is:

If you believe that we have no tools to find duplicate accounts and you guys can do what you want with them, you are sadly mistaken. We do not take much action because many cloned accounts do no harm. They only do the spotlight when they take noticeable harm to the community then we will take action. But if a person wants to waste their time on multiple accounts instead of gaining the trust of community members, then that is their time they have wasted, not ours.

As far as the timing is concerned, I don't think there is a restricted set amount of time between getting banned and creating another account. Not that I know of anyway.

When people are banned, no one probably minds you coming back ... but when you come back and you keep doing the same thing such as telling me hollow threats and giving examples of how a mod "god his head bashed in". Really? You think you are going to stick around? ... it doesn't matter if you are talking directly to me. I have never let threats pass by when I was in Cebu, I don't now.
