Prayer for Hope in the Midst of Destruction

    God of mercy,
you know the secrets of all human hearts,
for you know who is just and you forgive the repentant
    sinner.
    Hear my prayer in the midst of destruction;
    give me patience and hope,
so that under your protection and with you as my guide,
I may one day be reunited with my family and friends
    in peace, tranquility, and love.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.

A prayer of St. Teresa on mortification

“Why O Lord, should I be preoccupied with my fears and lose courage in the face of my weakness? You give me to understand that I must fortify myself in humility, and convince myself that I can do very little alone, and that without your help I am nothing. I shall put all my confidence in your mercy, and shall distrust my own strength, convinced that my weakness is caused by my self-reliance. You teach me not to be astonished at my struggle, for when a soul wishes to give itself over to mortification, it encounters difficulties on all sides. Does it wish to give up its ease? What a hardship! To scorn a point of honor? What a torture! To endure harsh words? Intolerable suffering! In short, it becomes filled with extreme sadness, but as soon as it resolved to die to the world, every anguish is at an end.”

    Prayer of St.Ignatius Loyola
    Feast: July 31

    Surrender

Take, O Lord, and receive my entire liberty, my memory, my understanding and my whole will. All that I am and all that I possess You have given me: I surrender it all to You to be disposed of according to Your will. Give me only Your love and Your grace; with these I will be rich enough, and will desire nothing more.

    Prayer For A Weary Soul

Hear my cry O' light divine
for I am at the place where people find their knees
my spirit staggers as I sift the ashes of my mind
and embers that once burned with heart, I can no longer find
I walk the endless forest but I cannot see the trees
your help would be a blessing and accepted at this time

    Understand my plea is real
for I'm not one to quibble over things so trite
but would so solve the problem if I had the means at hand
you've placed it in my nature to be one to take a stand
but I've known moments that have simply blinded my good sight
and I no longer have the means to process what I feel

Comfort me, in all you are
for this is overwhelming and I need your grace
take me, who knows the secret that in you I truly live
and show yourself, that I may come to grips and then forgive
myself and all the times I fell upon this human face
for then I'll know there is no near nor far

The dialogue between Mary and Jesus based on the Movie The Passion of Christ

    Mary
Why is this night not like any other night?
    Where is my son?
The slave is freed from the shackles of sin
    At last it has begun.

    Jesus
    Adonai, many surrounded me
    Adonai, they seek my life
Oh Abba, please take this cup
Not my will but Thine be done
See I am making all things new

    Mary
Heart of my heart let me die with you.

    Jesus
    Father, my heart is ready
    I am your servant
    the son of your handmaid

    Mary
I hear your heart beating ever near,
I know you must be here.
When, where or how will you deliver yourself,
    My soul trembles with fear.

    Jesus
Abba, my heart is ready, the hour has come
I feel the scourge rend my fleash, and I cry
    I am a worm,not a man
I give my blood for them

    Jesus
See I am making all things new
    Mary
Heart of my heart let me die with you
    Jesus
    Father my heart is ready
    Both
I am your servant,(The son of your handmaid) I am your handmaid

    Mary
You are poured out like water on the ground
I scarce can soak the blood
I must reach you though my heart won't go on
    My son I am here

    Jesus
See I am making all things new
    Mary
Heart of my heart let me die with you
    Jesus
    Father my heart is ready
    Both
I am your servant,(The son of your handmaid) I am your handmaid

    Mary
You fall again my son and, where are my arms?
    the end is coming on.
    They've teared your clothes
threw dice for what I weaved
your strength is all but gone

    Jesus
    Abba, they stretch me out
they nail my hands and feet
Please, forgive them, they not know what they do
Abba, Abba, they do not know
they know not what they do

See I am making all things new
    Mary
Heart of my heart let me die with you
    Jesus
    Father my heart is ready
    Both
I am your servant,(The son of your handmaid) I am your handmaid

    Jesus
Behold your Mother, behold your son

    Mary
    Here I still stand
Flesh of my flesh, and heart of my heart
    I say yes, again

    Jesus
My God, my God, why've you abandoned me?
    Abba how I thirst
I've finished all you've commanded me
    I am your hands

    ----------------------
O My Mother, how unconcious I am of your beautiful solicitude and motherly care for me. I acknowledge it with my mind; I profess it as my faith, but how little I realize it. When sufferings come and anxieties arise, I imagine that I must face them alone and so I get upset. How easy they would be to bear if I only saw you there beside me, knowing that you understand, knowing that you care and suffer it with me. The same with my joys. How much more winderful they would be if I told you about them and saw the interest in your face, the love in your eyes! It isn't just imagination; it's real. O Mary, help me to know and realize your all-embracing love and sympathy. And let me have all the trust and filial affection for you that you deserve. I renew once more my act of total devotion to you. Take whatever is good in me to use as you will for God's glory.

"Lord teach me how to love you with all my Heart, soul and mind, and teach me your ways and accept your will for my life.."

“What am I that you should love me,and hold me as your dearest love of all”

    THE PRAYER
    "TEACH US TO LOVE"

Lord, we thank Thee for all the love that has been given to us,
for the love of family and friends,
and above all for Your love poured out upon us
every moment of our lives in steadfast glory.

    Forgive our unworthiness.
Forgive the many times we have disappointed those who love us,
    have failed them,
    wearied them,
    saddened them.
Failing them we have failed You,
and hurting them we have wounded our Saviour
who for love's sake died for us.
    Lord, have mercy on us,
    and forgive.

You do not fail those who love you.
You do not change nor vary.
Teach us Your own constancy in love.
    Your humility, selflessness and generosity.

Look in pity on our small and tarnished loving,
    protect, foster and strengthen it,
that it may be less unworthy to be offered to You
    and to Your children.
O Light of the world, teach us how to love.

    Amen.

“But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, [28] bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. [29] If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. [30] Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. [31] Do to others as you would have them do to you. Luke 6:27-31

    Good Morning God!
You are ushering in another day,
    untouched and freshly new.
So here I am to ask you, God,
    if You'll renew me too.

Forgive the many errors that I made yesterday
and let me try again dear God
to walk closer in Your way.

But Lord, I am well aware,
I can't make it on my own.
So take my hand and hold it tight,
    for I cannot walk alone.

Lord, send me help in my troubles, for man's help is worth little. How often have I found no friendship where I thought I should have found it, and how often have I found it where I least presumed it to be? Wherefore, it is a vain thing to trust in man, for the certain trust and help of righteous men is only in You. Be You therefore blessed, Lord, in all things that happen to us, for we are weak and unstable, soon deceived and soon changed from one thing to another.

But why have I, wretched one, not better seen to myself? Why have I so easily believed other men's sayings? Truly, because we are men, and indeed but frail men, though we may be esteemed and thought of by many angels in our deportment.

..every man is a liar, weak and unstable and slippery, most especially in words, so that what seems openly to be true can scarcely be believed.
How prudently, therefore, have You warned us to beware of the levity of man, and that our familiar servants may be our enemies, so that, though one may say: Lo, here is your friend, or there is your friend, it cannot be believed.

Oh, how good and how peaceful it is to keep silence about other men's words and deeds, and not to give full credence until the truth be proved, not to report lightly to others all we see or hear, and not to be moved with every bluff of words...

Oh Lord God, I ought always to be humble myself under every reproof, and patiently to suffer all things in charity, according to your pleasure. Forgive me, Lord, as often as I have not done so, and give me the grace of greater patience in time to come.

    ~Thomas a Kempis
