Artist Recreated Mona Lisa Using Burger Grease



Phil Hansen is an artist who succeeded in recreating the famous Leonardo Da Vinci painting of Mona Lisa with the help of 14 grease-laden burgers.

The idea was brought by a fast food company that had the goal of showing the amount of fat that featured in the food of its competitors.

Over the internet the company posted a one-minute video in which the 29-year-old Hansen illustrates his work on an 11-foot canvas, created from butcher paper.

The advertising video was created for the US restaurant chain Arby's. It is worth mentioning that in 2008 the artist, who is from Minneapolis, made a similar painting using chips.

"People said it was a nice recreation and there were lots of comments on the nastiness of how it was made. Many of the people who saw it had just eaten a hamburger that day - they were a bit grossed out by the idea," said Hansen.

Playable Chocolate Record that You Can Eat After Listening



Peter Lardong, a brewer from Berlin, Germany, invented the world's first chocolate record that can actually be played. Thus when the listener gets bored with the music, they can then eat the record.

It would be interesting to note that the 67-year old inventor came up with the idea of creating a chocolate record after he lost his job at the local brewery.

At first he started making record using a number of different materials, including butter, cheese, cola, sausages and even beer. However, none of these records were able to play music and then Peter thought of making records from chocolate.

With the help of his knowledge in brewery, Lardong developed a new type of chocolate mixture composed of cocoa butter, cocoa and lecithin. He heated the mixture on a stove and then poured it into a silicone mould developed specifically for the record. The obtained record was hard enough to be put under the stylus of the record player.

It is worth mentioning that each of Lardong's chocolate records can be played for about 12 times

Argentinean Duo Creates Work of Art from 2,500 Pieces of Toast







This work is called simply The Toaster and the most interesting thing about it is that it's made entirely of toast.



It is worth mentioning that the authors of The Toasts are Ingrid Falk and Gus¬tavo Aguerre. The duo created their masterpiece in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

To be able to accomplish their idea they required 2 days and 2,500 slices of bread. The breads were toasted at different degrees of "burnt" and then mosaiced to form a beautiful fresco.

Artist Builds Cities Using Jell-O





Liz Hickok, an installation artist, has been using Jell-O to build replicas of cities and popular landmarks from around the United States.

Working in the field for over 6 years, the artist managed to recreate numerous architectural models, including some parts of San Francisco, and namely the City Hall, the Bay Bridge, the Ferry Building, and an entire skyline as seen from Alcatraz.

She also managed to recreate the White House.

Her latest work made of Jell-O illustrates the New York City with some of its landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building and much more.

Artist Creates Fashionable Clothes from Edible Products

Emily Crane is a recent fashion school graduate who enjoys making different clothes from edible products.

Her works include marvelous, sculptural garments made of ingredients that one can find in nearly every old kitchen, starting with food coloring and lusters to agar agar sea vegetables.

Below you can see a dress made of various edible products, with the main ingredient being beef gelatin.



Though she makes clothes, Crane looks more like a candy maker that produces garments by mixing, whipping, and stirring together various ingredients.

After making the mixtures, she spoons them onto baking tray-like sheets and puts them in a freezer. The next step involves molding the mixtures around a mannequin. In the end she obtains Micro-Nutrient Couture.

The most interesting thing about her edible clothes they don't look like food, mainly because of the undulating forms and almost transparent texture

Giant Chocolate Mayan Temple Breaks World Record for the Largest Chocolate Sculpture



The record for the world's biggest sculpture made of chocolate has once again been broken. This time a team from Qzina Specialty Foods managed to create a huge chocolate temple of Maya that weights 18,239 pounds (8, 273kg).

The team made the giant pyramid-shaped temple, the ziggurat, with the already recognizable ancient stair-steps. It is worth mentioning that managers of the project were Chef Francois Mellet and Stephane Treand.



All of the molten chocolate used to make the sweet structure was accurately poured into each level of the temple, the base of which measures 10 x 10 square feet. Each ascending layer is a little smaller than the previous.

On top of the pyramid there's a rectangular temple and a Mayan sculpture is set on top, behind chocolate pillars. All of them make the structure 6-feet tall.


But that's not all - Mellet and his team decided to add a few details. They carved rows of tiny steps and temple climbers along the edges of the pyramid, and even added chocolate guards.

To be able to see the chocolate sculpture you should visit the Qzina Institute of Chocolate and Pastry in Irvine, California in the period between June 4th and December 21, 2012.
