With the 13-0 vote and for almost a year of deliberations, the senate has finally approved the Automated Election Bill. Under this bill, it would be use in the 2007 elections in two provinces and two cities each in LuzViMinda, with specific location for the pilot testing to be determined by the Commission on Elections.

Passing this bill would lessen our problems regarding elections. This is another step where in the government is making its way of giving the people his right to vote and his vote be counted properly in return. This is giving the people their right to really choose who deserves to be a leader whom they can depend and trusts their future.

With regards to the coming election, DepEd had warned the Teachers that they will be facing charges if they refuse to serve the election. Officials said the refusal of teachers to perform election duties can be a ground for filing an administrative case of insubordination against them.

Charges can also be filed against teachers for violation of Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

Of so many people with respectable jobs, teachers are the one who is being trusted by this process. So let us hope that aside from teaching, serving during elections will also be part of duties as mentors.
