Actually swearing to a bible is a psychological test.
Its also a commitment to the truth if you believe in God and if you believe in the bible.

If I am telling the truth you could swear me to anything you could think of.

but if you are lying, you have your conscience to answer to when you swear to a bible for something that is not true.

One astronaut would not even swear for the reason of treason.
Why would it matter what reason you were sworn into. as long as you are telling the truth you would easily swear on whatever reason because it would not even matter ----if you are telling the truth, would it?
