TEE VEE
Aside from the american occupation in the Philippines which also established the common thought then
that everyone white---tall, blonde hair, fair complexioned as Amerikano....
It is the advent of media, esp. Television and also the radio--when the entertainment industry is dominated by the west or MOSTLY the Americans, bombarded our society or household with Elves Presley, & John Wayne movies and generations grew up hearing & watching their tv programs, waltzed, did the twist & boogied with their music.
Also during the liberation of the Philippines marched the victorious American GI's being greeted eagerly & enthusiastically the white american heros "Victory Joe!" by the Filipino natives.
So what they saw or see as white are assumed Americans

anyway TS its not a big issue if you were refer as american or not. Cause even myself cannot differentiate an american, caucasians or canadian from the first look not until i hear them talk.
And beside not all white person here are addressed as american, like me i'm white and sometimes turns red when burn in the heat of the sun. And yet they don't call me americano instead mestizo. See the difference? So stop the geography thing...
Generalized man gud na, kay alangan imu pa sukit-sukiton unsa jud iya nationality, if white-caucasian "Amerikano", if Black - no matter what race "Negro", if from middle-east "arabo", "bombay" kung ga pa 5.6....
