1st point: Geography is taught since Elementary.
2nd point: 'Kano' is a rather slang term for foreigners. Sorry, but we don't give a damn about nationality (race).

"are you PHILIPPINES?" ---> epic kau.....!
Hi TS..
First of all, please dont be offended or annoyed if people here in the Philippines call you American when your not..
Here's the logical explanations why ALL WHITE/CAUCASIAN looking persons are called here as - Amerikano..
This is what my lola told me before, why most pinoys in particular visayans connote people of white descent as Americans...
According to her, way back during the post world war II era, Whenever the G.I's would roam the streets here in Cebu, the people would always come out of their homes, especially children because these American G.I's would always pamper and treat them with Stateside Chocolates.. all the time..
Since then, these G.I's would be fondly called as JOE's.. so vis-a-vis, people back then, would tell, "Chocolates pa JOE..", Now bear in mind.. back then also, the only WHITE PERSON our lolos and lolas have ever seen were these american soldiers who are very friendly to them and make them laugh by telling them stateside english jokes...
Now over the years.. since the American Culture had been deeply rooted already here... our forefathers would pass these tales of a white soldiers who had given them chocolates before.. (they would fondly tell them as mga PUTI, mga AMERIKANO...) to their sons and daughters and in turn it has been inculcated already to our visayan cultures that whenever you see any white person, it would summarily means an AMERICAN...
^^So, in other words, it's cultural and historical---not "geographical" hahaha
Hope this answers the TS.
mao niy amerikano mga party pipol![]()
ug kani sad, mayta d na mu masayop ug unsaon pag differ sa mga lahi. its all about genetics.additional info added. once its done it is done.Google Image Result for http://lh3.ggpht.com/_6yN_F2ILsGQ/SfH0mwMi7ZI/AAAAAAAACEg/UGdeV-iC5Ng/AmericanPie6.jpg
most kids call people as kano because they still have not taken geography... even if they did, it did not matter that much
filipinos may not know how to differentiate caucasians but they were regarded highly
if you are from outside the country you are american.. even if your black you are american..
so WTF!!!! lets call them all american!!! no more headache!!
what's the relevance between geography and your physical attributes TS in the first place? i, for one, could conclude by the way you look that you are american UNLESS you start talking since I can identify races with their accent and language.
jinkazama92: they teach geography here. however, can you HONESTLY determine someone else's race using GEOGRAPHY by simply looking at them? i could understand if you'd ask them where they grew up and you can get the drift of their race there. hahah! sorry, i just find your "airheadness" lame too...![]()
