I really, really did. But it got worse. I watched the movie with friends that I have not seen in a long time, and I watched it because of that, plus the 3D experience. But that's all the movie really had it going.
There are so many unnecessary characters, so many pointless scenes (esp. the bathroom scene, WTF?)
I can't tell what's happening in so many scenes, transitions be damned. The lead actors (Whitely and LeBouf; Whitely BTW is steaming hot, but acting wise, just sucked) had zero chemistry; I didn't even hear the audience rooting for them. In the end, I said 'the 3D was great!', and my friends all agreed, but as to the story? They couldn't even remember half the plot; I know I couldn't (and at that point, I really didn't care).
We're not expecting Michael Bay to be an Oscar winner; I kinda knew what to expect before entering the theater. But I really thought he tried to change, to not just aim for cheap laughs and not replace good storytelling and strong acting with endless, mindless action scenes and toilet humor, and racial stereotypes. But no... he insists on perpetuating mediocre storytelling.
